Another Memory

"Doreen, you should listen to your sister."

Doreen heard her Dad's booming voice as she sit on her chair, eating the slice of cake in a slow pace. She looked up and saw the disappointed expression on her Dad's face.

Her father had this serious expression and his hands were crossed over his chest. He did not look angry but he had this disappointed look that made Doreen feel guilty whenever she wanted something that her Dad did not agree with. This was one of that kind of thing.

Doreen placed her fork down, wiped her mouth with the napkin and sighed.

"Dad, I simply wanted to go abroad to study. I am not running away or eloping."

She heard these words coming out of her lips. She sounded polite, but what she had said seemed to upset her father even more because his face turned red with anger.
