The Ninja Cadre

When Toby woke up for school, his mother went to the kitchen to make is breakfast. After waking up he looked down at his arm and nearly fainted. Toby's upper arm was swollen, this augmented to its redness. If his mother found out, no one could quantify the amount of reasons she could make up. Then she would immure him to his room for a week saying something like, "You're too injured to move," or "Your arm will fall off," etc.

That simply couldn't happen, not only did he need to help take care of the parrot, but he also had to deliver the knife to Eva. The more time that went by put him at risk for being discovered.

In his household, it was illicit for him to be near a knife. If he was caught with one, he'd be met with his mother's rancor behavior. Thus, Toby came up with an auspicious plan, a sweater. After putting on the sweater he felt relieved, as long as his mother didn't check underneath the sweater he would be fine.

Toby followed his normal morning routine, and luckily his mother didn't notice anything. When he was about to leave for school his mother stopped him. In that moment Toby's heart sank. Did she find out? How? But all this worrying was in vain because she let him leave soon after.

While he was walking to school, Toby's heart kept pounding. He was carrying a knife in his bag to school. Once he got to school, the few people there didn't notice anything. If this was present-day, he'd be accused of some type of crime. Toby felt as if he was part of a cadre, a ninja cadre. The knife was his katana and his pencil was his shuriken.
