The Knife

After Eva got the measurements she wrote them down but got a rueful expression. Toby was confused, he asked her what was wrong and soon found out that Eva miscalculated the measurements. While she was retaking the measurements she said,

"Remember when I said that i needed a knife, bring one for me tomorrow. And don't get the wrong idea, its for the cast."

Currently her only objective was to make the cast, the reason being, she had no one to attack. Despite Eva's thoughts of malice, Toby revered her and was going to accede her command. The problem was, how would he get the knife?

Toby's mother is the type of mom that would baby proof the entire house, this includes a lock on the draw that contained the knives. The problem with this was that Toby wasn't a baby, he was eight. Normally, Toby never really cared about the lock due to his affability, but now that exact lock was the problem.

Once Toby went home, he had a plan. He used furtive movements around the house, and he reached the kitchen, then the drawer. Toby's plan was simple, he would use the two paperclips that he found earlier in school to open the lock. And how would Toby use the paperclips to open the lock? Well it's simple, he would jam them into the area meant for a key. It always works in books and films, it'll definitely work now.

After five minutes of jamming the paper clips and ultimately failing to open the lock, Toby sat down in frustration. He then saw a fissure in the lock, then Toby eagerly jammed the paperclips into the crack and after two more minutes, it surprisingly worked a bit. The lock loosened a little but still remained on the drawer, now he was able to open the drawer halfway.

Without hesitation, Toby stuck his arm into the half-opened draw and he grabbed the handle of one of the many knives. Once he had a grip, he tried to pull his hand out. But Toby's hand was stuck. He tried multiple times to get his hand out, while doing this he looked like a rabid beast trying to escape a trap. Eventually Toby managed to free his hand and smuggle a knife but the draw left a red mark on Toby's arm. It was a bright red mark on his shoulder that wouldn't be going away any time soon.

Oblivious to this, Toby ran with the knife to the room, and he stuffed it inside his bag. (Please don't do this with knives) Now Toby would be able to help Eva make a cast for the fledgling of a bird. All he had to do was to play it off the next morning and abjure any of his mother's prescient claims.
