Chapter 62: Oaks' Calculations

Oaks made a call to Nick Fury in front of Tony.

"Alright, understood. So there's nothing for me to do, right? I'm ready to leave, then?"

"What? Don't joke with me, Mr. Director. If I recall correctly, I'm listed as an environmental consultant...

I have no problem with Tony's situation, but investigating atmospheric anomalies and their relation to the environment... Well, okay, it is indeed related to the environment."

Upon hearing Nick Fury's next "arrangement," Oaks' gaze hardened, but he maintained an impatient expression on his face.

"But Director, I'm a biologist. If you use interdisciplinary stuff to stimulate me like this, although I usually have a good temper, I might curse."

"What? Atmospheric anomalies?"

Tony, on the side, looked utterly confused. Wasn't that just a term for bad weather?

"Yes, that's right. Atmospheric anomalies can indeed cause environmental damage, but don't you think the reason is a bit far-fetched..."

Oaks temporarily ignored Tony and decided that he absolutely wouldn't get involved in this matter right now.

"So you suspect that something fell from the sky? You don't mean to suspect that it's an alien, and you want me to research the differences between him and Earthlings?

Then, find that thing first. Let's focus our energy on resolving Tony's problem for now... What? Okay, I'm hanging up."

Oaks shrugged towards Tony, who had no idea what was going on, and put away his phone. He stroked his chin.

"Nick Fury will come to see you personally later, and he'll bring something... It might help you with your reactor problem.

But he can only provide some information. Whether or not these materials can be effective and how to solve the problem specifically, it depends on you...

Whether or not those things can help you find a solution depends on your own insight."

"Mmm... I think I should be fine."

Tony's eyes brightened. This proud guy wouldn't refuse help from others as long as he got to handle it himself in the end. It greatly satisfied his ego.

However, he was still curious.

"What kind of information does SHIELD have that can serve as a reference for the Arc Reactor? Have they been researching reactors?"

Suddenly, he seemed to remember something and turned his head to look at the still illuminated monitors.

"Is it this guy? Is he related to SHIELD?"

"That's not something I have the current authority to know. But I believe Nick Fury will explain it when he arrives."

Oaks casually waved his hand as if it didn't matter.

"Also, based on my experience, when your train of thought is blocked, it's best to change the environment. It seems like it's time for you to go to the company and stabilize things. Your office is practically becoming Pepper's."

"Is that your secret to maintaining an agile mind?"

Tony also propped his chin, deep in thought.

"I'm more used to finding inspiration from beautiful women. Unfortunately, the one up there is an undercover agent... Maybe I can try your method."

"My method is the most universal, okay!"

Oaks pinched his brow. He just wanted to prevent Tony from not seeing the crucial concept map of the "Future City" left by Howard.

But that was the end of it. He shouldn't get too involved in the rest of the matter.

On the other hand, what Nick Fury said was probably related to the fact that Thor was now on Earth.

Oaks currently wasn't very interested in Asgard, but he was very interested in something that would appear on Earth afterward.

For now, Oaks was practically stripped, wearing a blank slate, without any armor.

And the most powerful aspect of the bear form was that it could multiply the defensive capabilities of the equipped armor several times.

Although Oaks' bear form in the Amazon could withstand Hulk's punches, if it were in a city with the weakest Nature Energy, Hulk could knock him down with just a few punches.

And as a druid, he couldn't withstand metal armor.

But there was no magical leather on Earth that Oaks could use to make armor, and the defensive capabilities of ordinary leather were even inferior to SHIELD's special agent combat suits.

The special agent combat suits, which couldn't be enchanted at all, had virtually no effect on Oaks.

The materials that could be used to craft magical armor and provide armor and attribute bonuses for Oaks' beast form were from those legendary mythological creatures, such as the magical wolf Fenrir and others...

Although Vibranium was rare and powerful, it wasn't suitable as a material for crafting natural armor. Its strength lay in its ability to absorb and store vibrations, which, like other alloys, would affect Oaks' control over external Nature Energy.

However, now there was an opportunity. If manipulated correctly, he could obtain armor with explosive defensive power.

Uru metal.

This was a very unique metal in the Marvel world, with a natural affinity for magic and divine power.

Uru metal was not only easy to enchant but also absorbed magic like a sponge. It could enhance the wielder's control over magic, and its strength would greatly increase with the infusion of magical or divine power.

It was simply the ideal armor material for Oaks.

As for the high level of non-malleability of Uru metal...

The dwarves of Nidavellir used a forge called the Starforge to forge Uru metal, such as Thor's hammer Mjolnir, which had just been dropped, and later the Stormbreaker.

But Oaks didn't need to forge them into armor. He only needed to cut them into armor pieces and use them together with ordinary materials to create armor.

So, cosmic energy would make it possible.

After all, even if he took some armor pieces from a whole armored robot made of Uru metal, both Asgard and SHIELD wouldn't mind... right?

So, after bidding farewell to Tony, Oaks returned home to prepare. After Tony's birthday, SHIELD should be able to find Thor's hammer.

Now Oaks had to accumulate cosmic energy as much as possible without attracting the attention of the Mystic Arts Council. He hoped that after SHIELD brought the Destroyer, he could take a few pieces.

However, things seemed to not go as he wished.

The day after returning from Tony, Oaks and Banner were conducting experiments on gamma rays. After temporarily solving the Hulk problem, he really wanted to study the effects of gamma rays on magical plants.

But Melinda knocked on the door of the laboratory once again.

"Hey, Mel, what's going on this time? The Director doesn't have any inquiries about atmospheric or water pollution, right?"

Oaks reluctantly stopped the experiment, and Banner shrugged. The fact that the SHIELD agent was right across from them but couldn't discover their long-time pursuer was quite satisfying for Banner.

"It's not about that..."

To their surprise, Melinda's face carried a serious expression.

"Consultant Oaks, we need your combat support."

"Combat support? Are you serious?"

Oaks was taken aback, and his expression turned serious.

"What happened?"

"In the Harlem district of Manhattan, a... monster has appeared!"
