Power Of The School's Strongest (Victor X Victoria) 5

As soon as the change ended, he kicked off the floor and shot his body forward fast, though not as fast as before, towards the vestige.

The vestige saw him coming, and deeming him to be the most dangerous of the two people pestering it, sent most of its flying blades at him.

Due to his slower movement speed, he found it several times harder to move his body and evade those projectiles fast enough even though his mind could keep up.

Couple that with the lack of friction that made it harder for him to quickly change his direction, he was quickly put in a tough spot as several more wounds and even some punctures were made all over his body.

Normally he would have also punched out with his fists, relying on his armor to deflect some of them, but the only energy flowing through him was the unattuned version that didn't pass through the part of his ability organ that changed it into lightning.

Meaning, not only was he slower than before, his suit that specially used his lightning to make his defenses sturdier wasn't working to its full potential

[Victor, what are you doing!], Victoria yelled out through the link.

With a grunt of pain that he couldn't let out from his mouth due to his speed, at least not yet, he said,[It doesn't matter how much it hurts. What matters is that I've gotten close enough!!]

To him right now, this relatively small amount of damage he got would be worth it once he got close and managed to grab on to the vestige.

With a grunt that came out in slow motion, he punched out after reaching the vestige, at the same time his punching arm burst out with golden energy that behaved like both flames and lightning.

The vestige sensed something off with the energy so it was definitely wary of him, appearing hesitant a bit when it saw him coming, so it used its claw and slashed it towards him with moderate speed but still saturated with the energy.

Victor was initially aiming for one of its legs, but the claw coming down for him made him change his plans. The straight punch that he was about to let lose was changed into a side punch, aiming at the side of the vestiges blade claw slashing down at him.

This punch carried all of his strength, meaning he was very well aware that if he used it with the golden energy, it would definitely be able to, if not severely crack the body of the vestige, it would at least damage it severely.

Which was why what happened next was beyond shocking to all who witnessed it, even to Victor himself who was in pain for several reasons.

*Crack * *Crunch*

In this slowed down world, where all their thoughts and some people's bodies moved at supersonic and subsonic speeds, those two sounds were deafening even though no sound had reached them yet.

Victor's arm, wreathed in golden lightning, cracked through his own armor and tore through the scythe blade of the vestige at once, leaving the bloody arm as the only thing to come out of the other end!

His shocked mind started thinking, trying to figure out how this could be possible.

His mind drifted back to Maria's words from earlier about how his energy was more suited to destruction, which he singled out as the reason.

But still.

'Isn't this level of destruction a bit too much?!' he thought to himself.

Did she know about it?

Now he really felt like an idiot for holding back on making the switch all this time.

But the thing was, even if Maria, the one who encouraged him to do something like this, was here, she would also be as sunned as them.

She was definitely aware that he had a very destructive energy type as she was sensitive to these type of things.

But this, it was on another level to her entirely.

Sure she had seen more destructive energies and powers, but if she compared them to his own at the same level of power, the number of people who surpassed him would dwindle sharply down to zero.

So to see something of this level on a student....

Well, let's leave that discussion for when Maria actually sees it.

But for now, the effects of using this energy reared its ugly head.

His punching hand especially, but basically everywhere on his body was in severe pain.

The armor on his hand that he used to punch out was in shambles, barely working again while the fist part of the gauntlet that took the brunt of the energy and force was entirely destroyed.

His bones on said fist had hair sized fracture on it, his skin seemingly burning with how red it looked.

In this world, the powers that a person was born with could never harm them, at least not while inside their bodies.

The only omission to that rule was when they were on the cusp of upgrading the abilities' tier, as it caused them severe pain and internal damage if they used it in high outputs, getting worse the closer to upgrading they got.

Victor knew this and added another reason he was berating himself.

For years now, he had been stuck on tier 2 on his ability with no clue on how he could progress it.

In fact, the month after this one would make it 4 years since then.

This feat was shockingly fast considering that most people from prior generations only got to tier 3 after they had spent years on their ability, training it on the battlefield and polishing it steadily, but it was still lacking when compared to the speed of those in this current generation.

Considering that they were all between 17 and 19 years of age, this just went to show how talented this generation of students were, enough to break the norm that had been in place the last 700 years.

With Victor being the only one of the top of the class with his ability at tier 2(earning him the title of "The weakest of the strong"), the 18 year old was very distraught about his situation.

Although he was now a magnitude 3.7, the slowness of his ability upgrading made him weak for his level.

But now, not only had he found a way for him to get to tier 3, it looked like this method of using his ability had enough momentum and potential to open up the way to tier 4!

This was why he cursed himself for being an idiot and was berating himself.

You could say that he was being too hard on himself though. His mindset before also showed the extent he cared for her, even to the point of doing very stupid things to himself that seemed good at the moment of thought but terrible in hindsight.

Nevertheless, he would berate and console himself later. Right now, he had a vestige to finish off.

Although surprised and in pain, he didn't let up for a meaningful amount of time, coming at the vestige with renewed fervor knowing that any time he left the vestige to be free and adapt increased his chances of losing.

Although slower than before, he rushed at the vestige at the fastest speed he could muster.

The vestige definitely learned its lesson in that initial confrontation though as it began to retreat away from him, sending its floating blades at him to put some distance from him.

Instead of dodging them though, he used his fists and punched them, coating his two fists in the new energy and deflecting them to the sides.

Punching them head on, apart from risking heavy damage to his arm, would also slow him down.

The reason he was able to even defend against them before was due to the armor on his arms, which, because of his energy, had broken down.

Infact, his entire suit wasn't scrapped because he only over loaded his arms with the energy, which was why his arms took the brunt of the damage.

The amount of pain this caused him though, especially with his armor on one arm barely functioning and the other now in shambles, was intense enough to make his eyes start watering.

This blurring of vision didn't last long as he quickly used his energy, the neutral type, to clear the water and allow him to see well, lest it cost him the fight.

Alia was the third to snap out of the stupor induced by the new development, with Shin being the second.

His flaw would make any sort of distraction he had feed into the link, paralyzing everyone here.

Alia was next and she immediately did what she had been doing prior, making life difficult for the vestige.

Victoria though, was still stunned static, unable to believe what she was seeing in front of her.

Her mind went to all the times that she competed with Victor, which made her come to a realization.

'His forte wasn't speed?', she thought to herself.

She had always competed with him in contests of speed, content and secretly arrogant that she was the fastest most of the time and feeling bruised at the ego whenever he started passing her.

Which was why when Victor had seemed to start getting slower than her, she first made one large push to increase the gap and finally.. stagnated.

What Victor was trying to prevent had already happened. He just didn't realize it yet.

But now, she realized that Victor who she had been competing with, wasn't a user of speed, or at least, could use another form of energy better and more effectively.

This discovery definitely changed something in her. Though for the better or worse was yet to be seen.

All she knew was that she was feeling angry, sad, and a bunch of other emotions she didn't quite know how to put into words.

But the one emotion that trumped them all was panic.

She was at first confused, wondering what made her feel like that, but then her mind flashed back to her previous interactions with all her classmates, and then paused over her many, many interactions with Victor.

There were not many speedsters in this city's academy, which mean that all the people that could call themselves fast in the entire school were known to her.

And of the schools strongest, there just happened to be two speedsters in that list.

She might not be the strongest of their class, heck due to her low damage output she ranked at the very bottom of the strongest, only coming out on top when compared to Victor with his tier two ability.

And she was secretly happy with that, as long as she wasn't the worst of them all.

But this discovery of hers, that Victor's ability wasn't centered on speed, and he was finally awakening to his tue capabilities, brought her true thoughts to light and made her realise something.

She wasn't arrogant because she was the fastest of the two, she was arrogant because she wasn't the weakest of the two.

A position that he was surely to leave behind after they finished this battle.

And being called the weakest was not something she would ever want to live with.
