Chapter 22: Revelations

“You’re one to talk about pushing people away,” Reesa said as she folded her arms.

Myko showed no signs of being affected by her displeasure.

“Aren’t you going to respond?”

“Absolutely,” he said. “And I concur. I have pushed people away. Quite recently, you were one of them, but we can’t keep dancing around these feelings.”

“Yes, we can. It’s our best option,” she said. “We work too closely to go after more.”

“You’re only saying that because of the man who hurt you. Someone Harper seemed to know too. Does he work for Sartori?”

She didn’t answer. Her head was pounding.

“Was it Dex from accounting? I didn’t notice until last year, but he was always hovering over you.”

“It wasn’t Dex. He only hovered because I let him talk about his parrot.”

“Bless you, mitica. Lee from the cafeteria?”

“No. He talked to me because he knew about my friendship with Harper. He was always fishing for information about their relationship with Wei Lin.”
