MARY SUE

CHU WONHEE'S OP family appeared earlier in this world than they did in the novel.

Gong Yool, the Transmigrator who somehow ended up in the world inside the BL novel that he had read once, remembered that Chu Wonhee's OP family only appeared when Chu Wonhee's character was already on the verge of breaking down because of a broken heart.

The revelation of Chu Wonhee's OP family in the novel gave him the chills back then.

Yeon Soobin, South Korea's Crown Prince and an S-Class Hunter labeled as the 'Blacksmith God', was Chu Wonhee's older half-brother. The two had the same mother, and the two also had a huge age gap between them.

Thirteen years– Yeon Soobin was thirteen years older than Chu Wonhee.

In the novel, Yeon Soobin resigned from APA and refused to supply the government with the weapons he created to get even at Lee Seodam, the number one APA Hunter at the time, for breaking his baby sister's heart.

The novel hinted that Yeon Soobin might eventually turn into a villain to avenge Chu Wonhee, but Gong Yool didn't know if it really happened because he didn't get to finish the story.

Anyway…

Jang Semi, South Korea's richest chaebol in the country and the only female among the original Big 4, gained the name 'God Alchemist' because of the "divine" healing potions that only she could make. This "girlboss" was Chu Wonhee's older half-sister. The two had the same father, and the two had a fifteen-year age gap between them.

Just like what Yeon Soobin did in the novel, Jang Semi also stopped doing business with APA after she found out that Chu Wonhee was deeply hurt because of Lee Seodam and Park Ruda's "affair."

South Korea's economy depended heavily on the conglomerate that Jang Semi and her family owned, so it was hinted in the novel that the government suffered a lot when Jang Semi refused to work with them anymore.

Although I find it cool that Chu Wonhee has an OP family, most of the readers only started to hate her character even more after it was revealed that Chu Wonhee was the hidden yet beloved baby sister of Yeon Soobin and Jang Semi.

'Mary Sue.'

It was the type of fictional character, oftentimes a female, who was seen as perfect and boring for lacking flaws.

That was how most readers saw Chu Wonhee's character in the novel.

Park Ruda, on the other hand, is seen as a "cinnamon roll" with a "tragic past."

Unfortunately, Gong Yool didn't get the chance to find out about Park Ruda's sob story because Park Ruda and Lee Seodam were only the second couple in the novel.

The main story revolved around Hunter Graham and his Guide Ahn Kisoo, after all.

"Hyung, did something like this happen to Wony Noona in the novel that you've read?"

Yool shook his head in response to Do Ahyeon's question. "Nah, this shit didn't happen to Wony in the novel."

Do Ahyeon gulped nervously. "I-I'm worried about Wony Noona even though her family is already here."

"Don't worry about it– Wony is supposed to be a Mary Sue character, and a character like hers always has it easy."

Yool wasn't trying to demean Chu Wonhee in any way.

In fact, he only said that because he was praying that his dear friend was protected by the "plot armor," assuming that this world was really inside a novel. He'd rather have a "weak" friend than a dead one.

Wony doesn't need a quick character development– just let her be safe, you sadistic Author.

WONHEE, while her friends and family were about to commit mass murder outside without her knowing, was looking at her trembling hands.

Then her shaking pupils landed on the unconscious Hwang Frost on the ice floor.

Did I really knock out THE Hwang Frost– the strongest of the Big 4, the master of the Winter Guild, and the first X-Class in the country– with just one slap?!

<"Congratulations, Chu Wonhee! You're now a certified Awakened Person!">

Wonhee gulped hard while reading the message that appeared on the semi-transparent Status Window floating right in front of her face.

<"The System would like to wish you good luck on your new life as a Guide!">

Wonhee covered her mouth with her hands when she gasped. "I awakened as a Guide…?"

sola_cola's thoughts on this chapter: It's a challenge to write a weak character like Chu Wonhee. If you've read my other works, you might have noticed that I like my female leads rude and sassy (exhibit a: Neoma, exhibit b: Tilly). Wonhee might be frustrating sometimes, but please wait patiently for her character development. <3
