A Father's Affection

"You visited the town library?" Caius asked, his deep-set eyes staring at Sienna.

And there it was again. Familiarity. Confusion. But she could see that he was so good at masking what was bothering him about her because despite the glimpses of those emotions in his eyes, he could maintain a calm expression on his face. Almost flawless.

"Yes, milord. Young Master Davi is with Miss Blair attending the governess' class. I have free time, so I asked the butler if I could wander around the town. I'm fond of books, so I decided to stop by the library."

"You love reading," it sounded like a statement, but Sienna took it as a question.

She was quick to say, "My mother's employer taught her how to read and write before, and my mother passed the knowledge on to me."
