Muffled cries of the oppressed

Owls hooted in the distance.

Clark felt a pressure on his shoulders as he watched the young master wait for his answer. He suddenly wondered why he was still staying in the duke's mansion even though he was constantly facing danger. What was with today anyway? Why was everyone suddenly looking for a maid? Why did she have to disappear all of a sudden?

Thankfully, Clark knew what to say to the boy. Before the duke had left, he was told to tell little Davi that his maid went out with the duke, if the boy asked about her whereabouts.

The butler knew that little vampires could be difficult to handle, and he assumed that the duke didn't want his son to throw a tantrum once he knew that his maid was nowhere to be found and might have fled. Clark believed that his master would soon come back with the maid. He could only guess what punishment awaited her. Knowing the pureblooded vampire's ways, he knew it would be dire.
