In the town park of Darthmore, local carriages and the coachmen who drove them lined up under the night sky.
It was a surprise when the town suddenly received a notice from the council that every local carriage whose route included the forest path north of the town was required to undergo an inspection. It was seven in the evening, and inspections usually took place in the morning, never at night. But since it was a notice from the duke's office, they had no choice but to comply.
The duke's carriage soon arrived at the town park and Lemiel stepped out with Theron by his side. Both vampires wore stern expressions. However, unlike usual, Lemiel exuded a colder aura, his face as hard as stone with the usual mischief gone from his eyes, leaving them empty and soulless.
Yorrick, a trusted aide of the council, was already in the town park before Lemiel arrived. With a paper and quill in hand, he met the pureblooded vampire halfway and offered a bow.
