“Aunty, what are you saying?" Anurak quivered.
"What did your mum tell you?”
"She just said I must never be like him. She said she would rather have a dead son than a gay son.”
“Oh my god! Cece was really something else!“ Aunty Cahya exclaimed.
She and her sister argued against her sister's marriage. Since then Anurak's mother stopped keeping in touch. She tried to mend the bridge but the long distance and her busy schedule made things difficult. She didn't even know when her sister fell sick; she only got to know how bad things got after Anurak's mother was almost dead. She couldn't believe that a mother would say such vile things to their child.
“Come, sit down. Let me tell you what I know."
In a daze, Anurak followed her back to the couch and sat down. His heart was beating very fast and sweat was gathering on his forehead like tiny, shiny drops.
