Chapter 82: No Return

What have I done?

Nick was long gone, and the sun had long since set beneath the horizon. The wind was getting more aggressive and colder as time went on.

Danté and I stared at the ocean in front of us, neither of us saying a single word.

I could tell that, although he didn't say anything, Danté felt just as guilty for hurting Nick as I did.

If the clock was to be turned back, would I have done the same thing?

Of course I would have. It was an inevitable, predestined scenario. My heart knew who it chose, and it chose Danté long before my brain could even realize.

The only thing that I would have changed was that I would not have given Nick false hope - I would not have given him the illusion of something that was never going to exist in the first place.
