Chapter 5: Siege on the Earth Dragon

Klein couldn't believe the request of Xerxes to analyze the beast.

Lieutenant Alvin, who was standing beside him, had a shocked expression on his face. Klein noticed this and reassured him, saying, "Relax, Lieutenant. You're not on the battlefield. If you want, you can face those elite and ordinary giant beasts that bypass the formation of sword-specialized mechas."

Lieutenant Alvin snapped out of his trance and shook his head, replying, "I might want to participate too, Young Lord, but my duty is to protect you."

"Tsk, you're no fun," Klein sarcastically replied.

He was currently contemplating how to safely approach the extraordinary Earth dragon beast for analysis. He knew that if he acted recklessly, he could accidentally be hit by mecha weapons or thrown bodies of mechas from the battle.

Additionally, Lieutenant Alvin might follow him without thinking, and if something were to happen to him due to his recklessness, he would be held responsible, even as the son of the city lord.

Meanwhile, on the battlefield, General Arnold ordered his men to begin the siege. He instructed the sword-specialized soldiers to target the beast's body, the war hammer wielders to smash its joints, and the shielders to limit its movement.

The mecha pilots organized their mechas according to General Arnold's commands and launched their attack.

General Arnold's mecha charged with its hammer, aiming for the neck of the Earth dragon. Due to the Earth dragon's slow movements, it was unable to dodge the attack, allowing General Arnold to successfully strike its neck.

The impact from General Arnold's mecha hammer was powerful, creating a loud metallic sound. However, to his dismay, the hammer was knocked away by the Earth dragon's tough scales.

"This Earth dragon was no ordinary creature," he commented.

"Oh shit," General Arnold muttered in shock.

He had managed to knock the beast down halfway, but it quickly regained its balance and remained standing. Its eyes turned red as it locked onto General Arnold's position.

Meanwhile, the other mecha pilots responded and attacked the Earth dragon simultaneously, diverting its attention away from General Arnold once they noticed its change of pace.

Realizing the danger, General Arnold operated his mecha to position its shield in front to defend against the incoming attack of the earth dragon.

The Earth dragon began gathering magic particles in its mouth, preparing to unleash a devastating breath attack towards General Arnold.

Seizing the opportunity, Jaime's mecha moved in to attack. In a flash, the Golden Pride appeared before the Earth dragon, performing a downward slash with its dual swords to halt the beast's movement.

"No, City Lord, get away! It's already too late to stop it!" Arnold shouted through his communication device.

Ignoring the warning, Jaime continued his attack, his swords meeting the mouth of the Earth dragon. With a weak voice, he muttered, "Fortuna, I love you," showing no sign of panic in the face of the impending breath attack.

A deafening roar echoed from the Earth dragon as the two swords of the Golden Pride struck its mouth, causing a massive explosion.

The force of the explosion sent the Golden Pride flying, crashing into Arnold's mecha shield and causing it to stagger backward.

"City Lord, are you okay? Please answer," Arnold desperately called out through his communication device. After a few seconds of silence, there was no response from the city lord's cabin.

Tears streamed down Arnold's face as he whispered, "I'm sorry, City Lord. I have failed you as your general."

As the smoke from the explosion slowly dissipated, the damaged face of the Earth dragon was revealed. Half of its jaw had been obliterated by the premature explosion.

"Men, continue the siege. That damn monster won't be able to use its breath any longer. I'll take the City Lord away for a moment," Arnold ordered and requested his men.

On the other side, Klein, who had already found a way to run to the battlefield, was halfway in the direction of the battlefield, riding a horse.

He saw the scene of the explosion. "Hiyaa, faster!" he urged the horse to pick up its pace.

The worry on his face couldn't be hidden as he saw his father's mecha being pulled away by his uncle Arnold towards the battlefield.

At the same time, an elite beast was rampaging towards Klein's direction with its mouth open.

"Xerxes, give me the best position to take down this beast," he asked in his mind.

A fast response suddenly voiced out in Klein's mind.

"Analysis complete. The creator must position himself 45 degrees north, 1 meter away from the earth dragon, and slice through its neck."

Klein focused on himself after receiving Xerxes' response and followed her instructions.

He pulled out the sword from his side and positioned himself at the back of his horse.

He pulled the rope of his horse to maneuver its direction towards the north. When the distance between him and the Elite Earth Dragon was a meter away, he jumped onto the horse's back, went towards the back of the dragon, and slashed his sword toward its neck with all his force.

The Earth Dragon was unable to react in time, and with Klein's power which is close to an advanced knight, he easily took down the dragon.

"Phew, that was a hard stunt," he praised himself.

Without time to check out the giant beast he had just taken down, Klein chased after his horse to get back on its back.

"Shit, that thing took up my time. I wonder how Dad's situation is. I hope he is not in grave danger."

Unlike General Arnold, Klein knew the defensive capabilities of Golden Pride.

Though it didn't have defensive armor like General Arnold's mecha, the quality of its framework wouldn't lose out to his mecha. Besides, the pilot cabin had a strong force

resistance, which could enable the pilot to avoid serious injuries from large impacts.

He had already tested it in the boundless space in his mind with stacks of TNT bombs in front of the Golden Pride, generated by Xerxes. The result was unbelievable.

The pilot cabin remained intact even though half of its body vanished from the explosion, and the inside of the cabin wasn't greatly damaged from the impact of the explosion.

After 10 minutes, Klein reached the location of Arnold's mecha and his father's mecha.

Arnold also noticed his arrival.

"Kid, why are you here? This place is dangerous. Quickly go back to the city!" Arnold shouted with a hint of anger in his voice. His mind was in a mess due to Jaime's situation.

"Uncle, quickly lay down Father's mecha. I'll take him out," Klein replied with seriousness in his tone.

Arnold complied since he realized that Klein was there to rescue his father. He was surprised by Klein's bravery in bypassing the group of elite and ordinary beasts to reach their location.

In a hurry, Arnold complied with Klein's request. "Alright, quickly, young Lord, and take the Lord for treatment. I have to get back to the battlefield."

Without further ado, Arnold's mecha ran back to the battlefield, leaving Klein, who was currently opening the Golden Pride cabin.

"I hope Father is alright," Klein said as the front door of the cabin from the mecha's chest opened. He met his unconscious father, and the heat emanating inside the cabin was strong.

"Shit, they made this cabin impact-proof, but they forgot to put in an exhaust and heat resistance function. I guess Father lost consciousness from the heat."

He checked his father's breathing and was glad to see that it was normal.

"Xerxes, how is my father's condition?"

"Analysis complete. The host father's condition is not critical. He received minor injuries from the heat and a few internal injuries from the battle impact, and he is unconscious due to the high temperature."

Klein was relieved when his guess matched Xerxes' conclusion.
