Chapter Two

"You are late", Matias, Amor's younger brother said, with a smug look on his face.

"I know. I'm really sorry.", Amor said with a sorry look.

"*sigh*...no worries. Just promise it won't happen again. I'm almost late for football practice.", He said, as he climbed on the bike.

"Okay,Matias!",said Amor, with a smile on her face.

When they got home, they prepared dinner and sat down to eat.Her dad still hadn't arrived. She wondered why.

"Did dad tell you whether he would come home late today?", Amor asked Matias.

Matias held up his hand, as he was still chewing the pasta in his mouth."Not really. He only said he had an evening shift today." He said when he swallowed the chewed food in his mouth.

"Oh!",was Amor's short exclaim.

That meant her dad would come home a little bit later that night. She really pitied him as he had always worked so hard to take care of she and Matias ever since her mum left.

For the past ten years, her father, Mariano, had been working in a textile industry nearby.Although the pay wasn't that much, it was able to take care of their major expenses.

Before their mom left, they had been a loving couple. When they got married, they relocated from Spain down to America to begin a new life. They weren't rich but they were comfortable.

When she gave birth to Amor, Mariano was filled with joy. He couldn't help but feel fulfilled. He knew that his wife, Lucio, was the one meant for him. He loved Lucio with all his life.

She was his true love. Therefore, he named his daughter Amor, meaning Love in Spanish.

But two years after Matias was given birth to, Lucio suddenly decided to leave, saying she wasn't interested in the marriage anymore.

"But why, Lucio? Why do you have to leave?", Mariano asked with pleading eyes.

"Mariano, I have to. You are not the one for me!", Lucio said, packing her luggage.

Mariano was dumbstruck at what she just said."Wh.....what?", he said after regaining his speech. "What does that mean?"

"I do not love you,Mariano! I don't and never will!", Lucio said.

"Bu... but we are married.....we have kids..." He stuttered, unable to believe what he just heard.

"I only married you because I thought you had money. Or at least thought you were destined to be rich. But after eight years of marriage, we still live in a bloody rented house!", She screamed.

"Because of you, my dreams of being rich and living that luxurious life are all shattered!"

Mariano was too shocked to utter a word. But Lucio wasn't finished yet."I never loved you! And I am not going to stand here and watch as you ruin my life!", she heartlessly told him.

Mariano felt his whole world crumble down. He was shattered. He tried hard to fight back the tears welling up in his eyes."Bu.....but...Lucio? Why? What about the memories we made together? What about Amor and Matias? What about....?"

"You can keep your filthy children. I do not wish to leave a peasant life with you three!" She said with disgust.

She pushed past Mariano with her luggage behind her and headed towards the door.

Amor was in the corner of the living room, listening to everything, with Matias in her arms.

"Lucio, please!", Mariano held her hand as she was about to leave the house."I love you, Lucio! We can work things out! Please, don't leave me! Don't leave us....."

"SLAP!"

Lucio landed a huge slap on his face and yanked her hand away from his hold. "Goodbye, Mariano!" She said, with hatred in her voice.

She shot Amor and Matias a cold look, Amor couldn't help but shiver.

And with that she left their lives.

Mariano spent the rest of the day in his room, completely lost, totally heartbroken.

As a seven-year old, Amor couldn't understand much.

But she was sure of one thing: her mom was a greedy, heartless, cruel bitch who took her father's love for granted.

Since that day, her father diverted all his love towards them.

As she gained more understanding about what happened that day, she resolved in her heart to make sure she finds true love. She would be nothing like her mom neither would she fall in love with someone like her mom.

She would find Amor.

She would find true love.
