Immediately he paid for the stuff he bought, the stranger walked home, thinking about the girl he just encountered.
When he had helped her pick her stuff, he couldn't help but look into her capturing bluish-green eyes. With her black wavy hair which stopped right past her shoulders and the yellow top which complimented her skin, which was so smooth, he just wanted to reach out his hand and caress her.
But before that thought could materialize, he quickly said, "Thank you, miss."
He didn't know why but she cleared her throat with her eyes looking down.
Perhaps she was staring at him too.
"No, thank you! ", she had said.
Her lovely voice lingered in his ear and that was all he could think of as he payed for the stationery, a tube of hair gel and a big bowl of ice cream.
When he reached home, he looked around. He was alone. His roommate had traveled to see his parents for an urgent matter. So, he had a whole week to spend alone.
He sighed. Being alone was never fun for him. To him, it was literally BORING!! Sometimes, he wondered how people stayed all alone without anyone to back them up when they are down, cheer them up when they needed it the most.... and some other things he didn't want to think of.
Good thing he had a good roommate who was more than a friend to him. They were always there for each other.
He walked into his room and let his body fall on his bed. He was so tired from the day's work, within minutes, he was feeling sleepy. But just when he was about to enter the gates of dreamland, he heard his stomach growl.
'Aargh! Just when I was about to fall asleep! ', he groaned.
He hated sleeping on an empty stomach. So, he got up, sleepily, and grabbed the bowl of ice-cream in the freezer.
But despite the sleep in his eyes, he knew the ice-cream wasn't his. He bought a big bowl of chocolate flavored ice cream but what was in his hands was...was...was a mini-bowl of vanilla flavoured ice cream!
'What the.... ', he wondered.
Did he really miss his friend that much, he couldn't think straight?? Or it just happened that he mistakenly took a mini-bowl?
But even at that, he would NEVER, EVER take vanilla.... Of all flavours!! So, what could have.....
His train of thoughts suddenly stopped as he remembered the girl he bumped into at the store.
Damn it!
They must have exchanged bowls!!!
********
It sounded logical, but she didn't want to believe it. How could she have not noticed when the bowls were exchanged??
Or perhaps, it was done deliberately?!
'No, no! That couldn't be possible.' she said as she discarded the thought. The guy was so nice, and with his warm smile, he looked innocent...harmless even, he couldn't hurt a fly.
Well, he could..... Especially if the fly keeps buzzing in his ear.....
'Aargh!', Amor grabbed her hair in frustration as she walked into the café for her shift.
Last night, she had kept the ice cream in the freezer, as she didn't want to throw it away neither could she eat it.
Chocolate was not really that bad but she couldn't eat some random stranger's food!
If she had the opportunity, she would return it to the stranger. But would they ever meet again? That was what she wasn't sure about but she was sure that if Mother Nature wanted them to meet again, she would definitely find him...or at least, he would find her.
"Hey, Amor!", It was Zamar. He was behind the counter, as usual, preparing coffee.
Amor walked up to the counter and took a seat. "Hey, Zee! How are you doing? "
"Pretty good. ", He said, with a large smile plastered on his face. "I made coffee for you, extra milk! ", he winked.
Amor giggled, wondering what made him so happy that morning as she sipped the delicious coffee.
"Hey, guess what?! ",Zamar nudged her.
"What?"
"Elenore gave me extra $200 yesterday!"
Amor almost choked as she remembered her own $200 from yesterday .
"Oh, yeah! I was given too."
"Really? Why didn't you tell me? "
"I did..but then, I had to pick Matias up from school. "
"Speaking of Matias, isn't he too old to be picked up from school? " Zamar asked.
"Yeah, we talked about it last night and from now on, he is in charge of picking himself up from school. ", Amor smiled at her own little joke.
"Ah, good one!", Zamar said.
"So...what do you wish to do with your extra money? "
"I'm planning a surprise for you on your birthday! "
Oh, that's right. Amor almost forgot her birthday was near. Good thing she had a friend who always remembered.
"Hmm... So what do you want to get me? ", she asked with keen interest.
"Surprise, Amor. It's a surprise. ", He replied.
"Oh, okay then. " she said.
"So... What did you use yours to buy?", Zamar asked.
"Oh, actually I... " she was cut off when she heard a jingle from the door, which indicated a customer just walked in.
"We'll talk later, Amor. " Zamar said.
Amor nodded her head and headed to where her apron was hanged. After tying it around her waist, she headed to the customer.
"How may I help you, sir? "
The person had his face down as he called out his order.
"Right away,!" she said as she left the table.
Few minutes later, she was back with the food and placed it on the table.
The man finally looked up at her and she saw the face she never expected to see... so soon.
