Chapter 17
"This is Barbaric!" The Priestess yelled in irritation and stared at Zane who had swallowed his Saliva nervously until it became parched with dryness.
It was more than barbaric and he couldn't describe words to explain the situation around him. He was so tired and fed up trying all means to get Cypher to wake up before the full moon but it seemed as if his efforts were useless or he was even worsening things.
He had to break the ice and summon the pack Priestess when Gareth was found unconscious in his room after a whole day of not being outside which was weird.
"Nothing can be done about it " she uttered and he shook his head in disbelief.
"That's not fair, one of them needs to make it. The full moon is tomorrow!" He almost yelled at her and forgot his respect towards her.
"A wolf did this to them and I'm afraid we need the cure from them which would be extremely impossible at the moment."
"So what do we we can't just leave them. We can't leave the throne vacant too or someone else who is not royal blood would take over." Zane told the woman desperately and she sighed and thought deeply.
"We must follow due process as even the moon goddess will not just grant a miraculous healing to them, we need to find the person that did this to Cypher, his case is worse."
She said and he frowned harder, raking his hair with our fingers nervously.
"Someone with a very scared connection did this to him and she's the only one to save him or he might go through among process of healing.
The good news is that we can avoid his death since he's a royal blood but it would take time.
Gareth might escape this faster as he has no special or sacred bond with the person and if I may ask, why do we have a wolf in the Crescent Star Pack?"
The Priestess asked Zane who released a shaky breath and bit his lips.
Kaylan was always considered a harmless soul even though she was battered and broken beyond repair, she was harmless and could have been a maid peacefully in some other pack but Cypher's hatred and greed took over, and he needed someone to vent on so he took the poor girl from their last war.
It was hard watching the girl suffer but he had no power over his Alpha and right now, he wanted to say that the two brothers deserved their fate, they deserved death even but he couldn't blame them.
Kaylan's pack gave him a trauma that would haunt him forever.
"She was their maid." He finally blurted out to the Priestess who nodded her head.
"Does anyone else know about their dilemma? The Pack, the clan head, and elders?" She asked swiftly and she rolled her chin and closed her eyes.
"Not yet, I can't say a word. I don't know what those men would do."
"Exactly, you can't say a word to anyone or the stability of the pack would be at stake. I'll have them move out silently at night using my powers while I work on getting their health back to stability, you will look for that maid girl as she's going to make this whole process easier and you will take over the throne tomorrow."
She finally uttered the last words that sounded like an atomic bomb to Zane's ears.
Bile rose in his throat and he fought the urge to cry out at her at such a silly suggestion.
"You're not serious about the throne, right? I–you didn't – just–"
"Then watch the throne being given to someone else. Look, this is between me and you Zane. You know how the pack runs and the only person to wield extreme authority is Cypher. They don't appreciate his authority and they were going as far as accepting his younger brother to rule over them. I can make this happen, Zane, it's just for a temporary phase. I know you're worried sick about Cypher and if you need him to get that throne, you're the only person to meet the seat for him "
Zane listened to the words of the Priestess and considered It wisely. He could claim the throne for Cypher while he looked for Kaylan or he let go of the throne and someone more greedy would take the throne and refuse to time always creating a new lineage for himself.
"Fine, I'll do it." He told her and she nodded in satisfaction
"Good, Inform the elders and create an excuse for the absence of the two brothers, I'll take over from there okay?" He nodded at her words and did that immediately.
There was not a single time to waste, the blue moon commences tomorrow and just as he had expected, there was an uproar of disagreement and mumbling amongst the elders and clan.
It took the grace of the moon goddess that he wasn't thrown out.
"What sort of impromptu trip did the brothers take to abandon the affairs of the throne to a mere beta like you?"
One of them had roared out in fury.
"That question would be directed to the moon goddess cause right now, I will take over the throne whether you all like it or not."
He fired back at them with intense authority and when the pack Priestess confirmed it they kept their mouths shut.
Zane was crowned as the Alpha the next day and was offered the necklace that led to the treasure storehouse.
For years he had never stepped foot in there no matter his tempting it was and the beautiful things said about it.
His sole aim was to just take a glance at the Ancient Siren Necklace. It was worn by the moon goddess and given to Cypher's mum.
Not only was it Sacred, it was extremely powerful and the secret behind that necklace remains mysterious and only Cypher could answer that question since his mother had given it to him.
Zane smiled as he opened the door to the treasure house but was welcomed with horror.
Even a blind person would know the necklace was always stored in a mysterious glass safe, situated in the middle of the treasure room, according to the rumor.
Right now, he was looking at a broken and empty safe that made his blood boil.
He ran back out and Informed the Pack Priestess to get the Gareth key from his neck as he wanted to confirm something but she gave a negative reply if not see such an item with him.
"MOTHERFUCKING BITCH!!" Zane yelled in fury, his beast was ready to attack.
"I'll fish you out Kaylan and God help you if you have that necklace, God should just help you!" He talked to himself and went out on a j
ourney.
A journey that had him wander about the coast of different packs for years.
