The treasure House

Chapter 16

Kaylan left Gareth who was struggling so hard to breathe, he thought he was in a nightmare and would soon wake up. His heart was now a bubble of lifelessness and the effect of whatever he took had his brains spinning in painful circles.

He scratched his hands on the bare tiles and cursed in a foreign language before his body went limp in defeat.

With renewed strength and vigour, Kaylan jumped through the window of his room quietly and made her way to the treasure room.

No one would even suspect a dime, she was a nobody and the place was off bounds to any soul except the brothers, not even Zane had the authority to trespass to the treasure house but she was going to break that rule tonight, get whatever she wants and get the hell out of the place forever.

Part of her wants to feel guilty about what she's doing but a greater weight of hatred she had for the brothers overshadowed it, besides they won't be dead.

She just put them to sleep for a long time, if she had added a larger portion of the bane, then they could have died immediately.

"Holy gods!!" She shrieked and exclaimed in shock when she pushed the door open after a single click of the key being twisted inside.

Her vision was sprained from the impact of the glow that emanated from the room and she bit her lips to prevent herself from yelling in disbelief.

Pure gold ranging in sizes was heaped like grains in the room, it was so much that it was scattered everywhere.

There was a section for silver, crystals, diamonds, and other precious stones but nothing could the precious ray of gold that was heaped proudly.

But amongst all the other minerals that were in this room, only one caught Kaylan's gaze.

It was encased in glass and it emitted an ancient look, it wasn't glowing neither was it looking nice. All she knows is that this necklace that's sealed in this case must be important.

She could have just carried a handful of other precious materials and left but Kaylan used all her might to break the glass case and removed the necklace that laid beautifully on the black velvet covering and wore It on her neck selfishly. She grinned at herself and took what she needed before leaving quietly.

She knew she was supposed to return the key to Gareth or better still, throw it in his room and disappear but her selfish instinct kicked in and she disappeared with the key.

That night, she was going to make Rex evade the place and take most of the treasures to leave the corners of this earth, far away to a place she would never dream of suffering.

Later that evening in the borders of Green Oak Pack, Kaylan stood nervously waiting for Ray. She couldn't just barge into the pack premises as she wasn't a pack member. She was homeless and had been a slave for as long as she could remember. The midnight breeze brushed her hair backward and she was all shaky and fidgeting, she couldn't wait to disappear, to be free at once from all the tribulations she had gone through.

She finally saw him and his heart perked in anticipation. He was still an epitome of beauty, Kind and sweet just as she as always known him. His raven hair was packed upwards, revealing the glow of his dark ash eyes and the mounds of his forehead.

She opened her mouth to say something, to tell him that she had finally done it.

"I think I –" She was taken aback by the powerful crash of hug he gave her, his hands caressing her back and his face buried in her neck, sniffing her as if she was the scent he had been looking for all along and Kaylan's heart swell in pleasure.

"He loves me, he still does." She murmured to herself and felt relaxed in his embrace.

"I'm sorry I wasted time, I was talking to the Beta. They are planning for the Alpha's coronation tomorrow."

"Oh!" She opened her mouth to complete her words but she couldn't as she felt a sharp twinge of guilt knowing that Alpha Cypher or Gareth would have been preparing for the same thing.

"I see, but why discuss with the beta instead of the Alpha?" She asked him curiously and he shrugged.

"Long story Kaylan, tell me you're finally free from them, did you finally kill them?" He asked eagerly, hoping that she would give a positive nod but his heart sank in dread when she shook her head.

"I only put them to sleep for a while."

"What the fuck Kaylan?" His tone raised in displeasure and disbelief. This girl! What the hell is wrong with her to be so naïve, what's so hard in killing the people that cause her so much pain to death?

"You did what?"

" I couldn't kill them, Ray, you need to understand that. That's why I came with some items that would make us leave this place."

She said, hoping to convince him and to tame down his anger.

"You're in unbelievable Kay, those men are motherfucking Lycans from Crescent Star Pack!! They have the royal blood flowing in them and you did what? Put them to sleep with a little portion of bane? You could get hunted for all the rest of your life till they find you."

"And you think I couldn't have gotten caught in the act of trying to kill them?" She spat out at him, feeling extremely pissed and disappointed.

"What do you think I am, Ray? A superwoman who could take a sword and stab them to death? Do you think they are dumb? The Alpha's beta knew I had something to do with his sudden illness and if not for the fact that it sounded so impossible, my head would have rolled on the floor and you wouldn't have seen me again, ever!" She breathed out, feeling so angry at his outburst that he felt so remorseful.

"I'm sorry, I bet I'm being an Ingrate right now." He murmured and kissed her hair and she tried to relax.

"I had access to their treasure store," Kaylan told him and his eyes almost popped out from its socket in bewilderment.

"The sacred storehouse of Crescent Star Pack?" He asked to be sure and she nodded.

"Yes, I have the key too but before anything else and further questions, we need to leave this pack now!" She ordered and Ray felt reluctant at first. Leaving the pack meant so many things, he would lose his position as the gamma and would need to start afresh somewhere that might take time for them to be accepted.

"But If you're not interested, then it's fine. I'll leave on my own and-"

"You know that's not possible!" He replied immediately before she could complete her statement and she nodded.

"Fine then, I have the key to the store and-" she showed him a little bag containing different precious stones.

"I got this, I don't know if this would be enough to get a home somewhere very far away and start afresh, but in case it's not enough, we can go back to get another one." She told him and Ray had never seen something so dangerous and beautiful in his life.

He held his breath, his eyes blazed as she stared at the precious stones that could last his generation for centuries.

He was so speechless that Kaylan wondered what she did wrong.

"Where's the key?" He asked her and she took it out from her pockets.

His next act shocked her as he threw away randomly into the thick woods.

"Ray?" She gasped and he held her hands tightly.

"If you go back to Crescent Star Pack, you will die you stupid girl. This one you brought here will last us forever!" Ray exclaimed and she knitted her brows in surprise.

She never thought about the first statement she uttered and she accepted the fact that she was truly stupid.

Even if nobody would believe that she hurt the brothers, Zane would make sure he skins her alive to get the truth from her.

"Ah, I wasn't thinking straight." She said loudly and Ray kissed her lips softly.

"Let's get out of here, you don't know what you've done to use Kaylan.

You've changed our lives for good and I promise to make you mine, my Luna and Queen forever." He told her genuinely and together they left the borders of the pack without saying a word.
