Chapter 23

The display of horror on Kaylan's face was a sight to behold as she listened to Alice who seemed as if she just spewed some abominable words to her.

She didn't know if she should be scared or happy at the news.

Cypher wasn't dead!

She wanted to ask how sure she was about that information as she didn't want to get her hopes too high or get too scared at something that might not be true but she trusted Alice not to tell a lie especially if it's rumoured that's swirling around the pack.

There's a truth in every rumour.

"So what are you going to do? They are looking for you and come to think of the possibility that it's you, it's going to be disastrous Luna." Alice shook in worry as she stared at Kaylan who was so confused, about what to do or say.

"I'll leave it for the moon goddess to decide?" Alice arched her brow as she continued.

"I thought I killed them but it seems I didn't. If the moon goddess wants them to find me; she will direct them to me."

"But they might kill you!" Alice yelled and she nodded bitterly.

"I know," she whispered. "I know but my mate should kill me than me killing him. The feeling of having your mate's blood on your hands isn't palatable at all. I know they were demons to me, I saw hell and a lake of fire staying with them and I thought I could take their lives even though I was mated to one. I thought it was okay Alice but I realised how painful it was when I saw Ray look at that woman like that"

She swallowed hard and explained to Alice who seemed to me more shocked at every word she was spilling.

"What woman?"

"His mate," She gasped in response and Kalyan sniffed.

"He brought his mate over and he's going to take her as his second wife. That's the shit I'm going to deal with and–"

A loud bang on the door distracted them both and she shook. She turned to stare at Alice, giving her a questioning look of 'if she was expecting anyone' but before she could reciprocate that look with an answer, the door burst open and three guards barged in disrespectfully.

"What sort of nonsense is this?" Kaylan seethed and stood up feeling irritated by their actions.

"I'm sorry but we're just following orders from the Alpha." one of them said and she scoffed, her anger ruling her up the more. She was sure she passed that cheater with his mate in his Beta room.

"At this time of the night? And why would you come in like that and won't wait till I'm done? Get the hell out now! All of you!" Kaylan yelled in disgust, her chest heaved with fury but the men inside didn't budge, In Fact they looked angrier than her, and a sickening feeling of dread washed over her entirely.

"I Just-"

"You need to come with us immediately or we'll be forced to act according to Alpha Ray's rules."

The taller one with a neatly trimmed beard spoke up and I frowned.

Alice was almost lashing out at them but kept quiet when she realised that it was the Alpha's orders.

"I will come when I'm done, tell him to wait or he should sleep over till I reach out to him. Now get the hell out, you all!" She ordered but it seemed it wasn't working in her direction this time around.

"Get her out!" The order guard commanded immediately and Kaylan was shocked to the bone as the two men groped her arms vigorously and dragged her out despite her yellings and anger.

Getting out of Alice's room, it was so obvious that Ray had something under his sleeves because why were the pack members up all of a sudden?

It was so quiet and dreadful when she snuck out to meet Alice while he was busy having his fun but right now, they were gathered as if they were all being ordered to be here through the mind link and she swallowed hard.

Accusing eyes were staring at her, and disgust and sneers were plastered on their face as she was being dragged out till she was presented before Ray who stood at the centre of the gathering. He couldn't even stare at her as his eyes held no emotion, he had made up his mind to do this and nothing would stop him.

"What's the meaning of this rubbish Ray?" Kaylan growled and she tried all means to fight back the tears that were threatening to fall.

She hated the way her Pack members stared at her as if she was a threat to their existence. They've never stated her lie and regarded her as their shield or comfort of solace but she didn't know what had poisoned their minds.

"What's going on?"She cried out in disgust but Ray cleared his throat and looked at the few people that had managed to get his message.

"I'm sorry to disturb your night's rest but something urgent came up and it demands your immediate attention.." He addressed and Kaylan's heart thumped heavily. Thi wondered what he was up to even though her wolf was already telling her it was going to be something far much worse than what she was expecting but she still wanted to trust that it wasn't going to be something so serious.

"I needed to address this so we won't fall victim, especially with our mates ok the pack, and given my standards as an Alpha, it's my duty to protect you all from danger.."

He continued and bit his lips before saying a dreadful word that made Kaylan gasp.

"I'm sorry to announce that Kaylan of Green Oak Pack is no longer my Luna! I, Alpha Ray Rodriguez, reject her as my Luna for being a murderer!" He uttered and what followed next was a horrific gasp that filled the cold Midnight air like silent whispers.
