"Alright then."

Grabbing his iron sword off of the ground and putting it into its sheath, Neil looked for a way out of the alleyway that he was teleported to. Walking for a couple of minutes he came out to a busy street market. Stalls selling candies and little trinkets. Merchants selling soft fabrics of vibrant colors stretching from light oranges to deep purples.

Hundreads of people filled the streets made of cobblestone and gravel. Neil walked down the street for a while until he found a little maps shop. "Welcome dear customer, how may I help you today?" The old shopkeeper said as he set down a magnifying glass and a map. The old woman said as she sat back down into her stool behind the desk full of maps.

"Hey, I was wondering if you had and maps that have a decent description of the surrounding areas?" Neil asked. Looking at the walls and the ceiling as the room was covered with different maps, both paper and stone, of different areas around the continent. "Of course, how large do you want your map to be? I have some for the surrounding towns, states, Kingdoms, and the empire. All shrunk accordingly to fit the 2' by 3' paper." The old lady asked.

"Hmm... I'll take a map of the surrounding towns. I'm traveling through and lost my original map to the rain." He lied without a hint of remorse. "I was wondering if there was anything fun going on around here?" The old lady paused from grabbing the map. Her hand on her chin. "Let's see there's the hiring of different groups going on. If you want to get an apprenticeship, then that's where you should head. There's also the moon festival celebration going on in a couple weeks. Nothing else too important is going on."

"That will be 30 coppers please." The old lady asked with a sweet smile on her face. Neil looked inside his coin pouch and took out the coppers. Thanking her, Neil left towards the street to find some way to earn money. He didn't have enough money to not worry about working. He had just enough to get by for about a month if he used it sparingly.

Walking along with the crowd Neil looked at the different shops and people. Everything was so much different and better than the small village that he came from. There were actual merchants bringing around carts of different items that he has never seen before. There were people who carried a studious aura around them. There were also those who looked like they were ready for a fight to happen at any moment.

'Interesting' He thought as he looked up at a sign. 'The information guild. Sounds like it could possibly catch a pretty penny.' Slowly heading in the direction of the guild he noticed that the people around him started to change. He noticed that there were more people who were proud fighters. 'Drunks' He thought as he smelled the strong smell of alcohol wafting off of them as they passed. Walking more he noticed that there wasn't just one type of guild in the area.

"HEY, STOP THEIF! HEY!" He heard as he saw a young man, about 21 with a short stature, sprinting out of the square. Following him there were three middle age drunks with silver badges on their chest. Jumping on top of a couple stands the young man dashes on top of a couple buildings and slips away into the darkness of the alleyway.

"DAMN-IT!" The first drunks hand lifted towards his swords. Neil froze in his place. The hairs on his neck rose up. His legs going slightly numb as the sword and the mans hand got closer. The feeling he felt when that first slash broke through his house. The feeling of death closing in on you... stalking closer with every second. Suddenly the second drunk man grabbed the firsts arm and shot him a glare. Neil's body suddenly feeling relaxed in an uncomfortable way. As if death was just hiding in the darkness.

"Not here Jake. We'll find him later." The third nodding along. The first grunting while returning to the bar. 'Whew, I almost passed out.' Neil walked at a faster pace to the guild.

Walking into the guild Neil was surprised to find that it wasn't as busy as it was outside on the streets. In fact, it looked like it was almost deserted. "Hello, can I help you?" Said a slightly annoyed tone from behind the desk. "Yes sir, I was wondering if it would be possible to get a job here at the Information Guild. I'm new to the area and it looked like it was a job that would help me get a start in this area." The man behind looked at the young man with a careless gaze. Looking at his body and then his attire. "You do know what we do here at the Information Guild, right? We collect and sell information." Neil looked at him with a confused look.

"Never mind. Come around back and I'll start your interview if you're ready." Neil had nothing else to do and nothing to his name, so he headed towards the door behind the counter. "So," The man started as he pulled a couple papers and a pencil out from a drawer.

"Name?"

"Neil Lafer"

The man looked surprised at the boy and then looked at him deep in the eyes. Neil felt as if there was nothing that he could hide from the man. Every secret and story fell right into his lap as if he could do nothing. Two seconds later the man stopped looking at his eyes and continued with the paper.

"Age?"

"18"

"Level?"

"Mortal"

"Do you have any interest in cultivation or learning techniques?"

Neil stopped for a moment. His father told him to get stronger. To use anything and everything to gain strength. This was the first step on his journey. His journey to the peak of magic. To fight beings of legend. To get the strength to challenge the world. This was the turning point that changed his fate from dying young to dying in battle.

"Yes." He said without thinking about it more.
