Chapter 30: Patch’s Dispatch

Patch POV

He loved putting one over on his brothers, especially Jiro. He’d missed Jiro’s stone-cold lectures, which made his legs turn to jelly in a different way than Dane’s roar or Kyon’s ultimate frown.

Jiro got to his feet and Patch lay on his back with an easy smile.

“Get up,” Jiro said in that no-nonsense tone, hands on his hips.

Patch just closed his eyes and snored.

Jiro threw up his hands and stalked toward Garnet. “Hold me back before I thrash his tail.”

Garnet, smelling of freshly made cider, grabbed Jiro’s arm. “You’re harder on him than you were that little girl that hit you with the ball.”

Patch opened one eye. “He had a lot of that growing up. He was not the most athletic out of all of us.”
