Chapter 31: Don’t Be Like Dane

Jiro POV

Even during the festival and family times and recent feasts, Jiro hadn’t felt so relaxed or had such an enjoyable evening in a while. The small cottage–a living room, a bedroom and bathroom, and a tiny kitchen–encouraged coziness and closeness.

Patch was currently using Jiro’s chest as a pillow while Garnet made tea for them all because she cut Patch off after three mugs of cider. “At least it’s not grey-green orc sludge,” she said.

Patch lifted his head. “Hey, I heard something about that. It’s supposed to make shifters, you know …” He twirled his finger beside his head.

“I know,” Garnet said simply. “It made Cyran even worse than usual. Healer Kellam finally had to put his foot down, and so did I.”

She said that so matter-of-factly that Jiro looked at her in awe.
