The runners and guards tore through the house in a way that would make Sarina howl in the morning. Prince Makhel’s owl also flapped along the corridors, navigating his way to deliver the message. Garnet named him “Boba” after a pet owl she and Cyran had when they were young … one of their more successful pet stories. 


Jiro and Garnet took their time making their way downstairs. The walk from the healing wing on the second floor to the front door with Garnet felt like crossing a desert, which he’d actually tried to do when he was ten until Dane and Kyon caught up to him.


To distract himself, he thought about the house. It resembled one of the castles in the outworld kingdoms, but then, the Crimsontail Shadows had a history that went back further than either the Evenhide Pack or the Silverpaw Pack.
