Jiro POV
Fate had been leading them to this moment ever since he’d pounced on Cyran to stop him from hurting Dane weeks ago, which seemed like a lifetime.
They hadn’t known about Hades, whom Jiro smelled and sensed nearby. If they had, he felt certain that Garnet would have turned her anger on the ancient, cunning shifter wizard. The monster who’d torn apart so many lives and left families howling in mourning.
He did the last thing Cyran expected him to do.
He held up his hands in surrender.
If he fought Cyran, Hades would join in and they’d both blast him. Besides … he needed to keep them off-balance and give the witches time to free Garnet. If Cyran and Hades even sensed so much as a trickle of magic, they would attack the witches, which could be devastating.
And as if conjured by Jiro’s thoughts, Hades slithered out of the shadows in an elegant way. “Cyran, he’s weak. The all-powerful Alpha is exposing his throat.”
