Garnet POV
She had no idea how that final section of her magical prison collapsed. The witches weren’t even hitting that one.
Anneliese, Lilia, and Ravyn rushed in, with Lilia and Ravyn taking both her arms and Lilia pressing her moonstone into Garnet’s hands. “Let’s get you out of here,” Lilia commanded.
“You don’t have to tell me twice.”
But her mind was on how that last knot suddenly vanished. She’d stared at it and stared at it. Her supplies lay just beyond her reach. Remembering her backpack, she asked Anneliese to go back for it, but Anneliese had already thought of that. Garnet thanked her.
Maybe Garnet had been able to connect with the crystals in the backpack across the room, the way Lilia had taught her?
But she hadn’t been practicing as much as she should, too caught up in her fear of magic and trying to rebuild her pack and being starry-eyed over Jiro.
