Chapter 5 - Riho Yoshihara and Aiko Takagi

Third person POV

As they stand at the front gate of the school, Hachi was amazed. "So this will be my school from now on?"

"Yes, welcome to our school," Akira said to him positively.

"Okay then."

They then both entered the school.

After changing in their indoor shoes at the lockers, most of the students saw Hachi as a newcomer so they gave him a warm welcome to their school.

"Uh, thanks," Hachi responded with a bit of gratitude.

"What year you are in?" one of the students asked him.

"4th year in junior high. I was made an exception by your principal because of my current state."

Akira then explained to his schoolmates about Hachi's current state.

In response, the students understand that, and some of them considered that as cool and awesome, much to Hachi's chagrin.

Then, one girl, with yellow, blond hair and blue eyes, stepped in and commented, "You're like a character straight out of a movie."

That girl was Riho Yoshihara, a half-Japanese, half-American delinquent who loves art.

She was Akira's childhood friend, but grew up as a delinquent.

"Oh, morning, Riho-chan," Akira greeted. "This is my new family member, Hachi Shimizu."

"Nice to meet you," Hachi responded with a quick bow.

"It's my pleasure, too," Rico retorted. "You're welcome to this school anyway."

After that, they all went to their classrooms.

But, Hachi was placed in a different classroom, which was reserved for those who didn't complete their junior high education. Akira's parents did this so Hachi would be in the same school as Akira, albeit in different classrooms; and so Hachi would be less lonely. Hachi wasn't alone being in that classroom. There are a few students who were in a similar situation as him. As a result, Hachi got along with them very fast.

Meanwhile, in his classroom, Akira greeted good morning to his classmates. The last time Akira attended school was Monday.

Once Akira settled in his seat, another girl came to make fun of him. That girl is Aiko Takagi, the daughter of a wealthy businessman in the village. She was the school madonna and was mean on those who were of a lower status in the economic ladder. She looked down on Akira for being the son of a factory worker. But, in reality, Akira was a nephew of the current president of the Philippines through his father. It's just his father, the younger brother of his uncle, chose a simple life as a married factory worker in the countryside.

But he and his family does receive monetary support from them from time and time. "Whatever," Akira retorted, before going to read a book to pass the time. He doesn't care about his social status because for him, social and economic status wasn't important at all. After some time, Akira's teacher came, causing most of the students to return to their seats for class.
