Chapter 4 - School

Hachi's POV

I am now a part of their family, the family of the two siblings, Akira and Miki. I can't believe this. They're so nice to me. I thought all these words in my mind while laying on a mattress in Akira's room while he was brushing his teeth. Miki was playing in her room. It was 8 in the evening, and we just ate dinner, a delicious dinner that I never dreamt off. They provided me with everything I need: food, shelter, clothes, and the basic necessities. I never became that thankful before, and I felt so indebted to them.

Then, Akira entered the room. "Hey, Hachi-kun, do you know how to brush your teeth? It's essential for your teeth."

He knows my name because I told him and his family my full name.

 "Uh, no..." I responded plainly.

"I see. Do you want me to teach you how to do it?"

"Sure. My teeth had been dirty for days."

I then get up and went to the bathroom with Akira so I could learn how to brush my teeth.

There, he shows how to apply toothpaste on a toothbrush and the recommended procedures and steps to brush my teeth. I was a bit new to it, but it was quite simple. It ended with me washing my mouth with tap water and spit it out into the sink. After that, me and Akira went back to our shared room. Shortly thereafter, at that room, Akira was doing something on his desk while I lay down on the mattress staring at the ceiling. I was thinking about something.

The next morning, I found that my new parents had enrolled me in a school when I revealed to them that I only had 8th grade education. The reason why is that I got abducted by the Kara Tech as an experiment for a new, strong hybrid human. They said that they will pay for my tuition, and that school, which is also Akira's school, is a public high school, a thing that I wasn't prepared for because I never took an entrance exam for senior high school.

But, they promised to tell the school principal about my current state so he would make me an exception. Later before noon, they did, and I was informed that my application to that school was approved, and I was not required to take any entrance exam. Instead, I would only need to learn the basic curriculum of the final years of junior high, in a senior high school, for a year before catching up with their curriculum. I can't believe it. The school principal was that understanding even though I only had a virtual interview with him at home.

So, by Thursday morning, me, Akira, and Miki ate breakfast, dressed in our school uniforms, and went to school, Akira's local village high school. It was my first day in school, and Akira was in second-year already. Miki is in her last year in middle school, too. So, that means Miki attends a separate school. I saw it, and she parted ways with us before we continued on to Akira's school.
