"To make her a bigger person".
Grandpa said and Jason looked at him with a brow raised.
"What do you mean by that"?
Jason asked as he wasn't so sure about where his grandfather was coming from.
"She has to be someone who won't be criticized for being a part of our family".
Jason smiled lightly, trying his best not to get mad just yet.
"And what... what is that supposed to mean"?
"Oh snap out of it Jason, whenever it has to do with this lady, you are always so agitated. I do not intend to hurt her, I just intend to make her someone that people won't be able to hurt so easily. Even without my help... or yours".
"This is unlike you Grandpa. I mean, it's not like I'm married to her yet. It's also not like I have engaged her. She is simply my girlfriend!! I do not understand why you are going out of your way to do this for her".
Grandpa sat with one of his legs crossed over the other and his hand balanced on the handle of his couch.
"It is because I know you my grandson, and I know, more than anyone else that you would never have brought her if you had no feelings for her. You have never even introduced a lady to us before as your friend and now what? You bring a lady and tell us that you are in love with her... of course, I have to support you. Now don't get me wrong, she is still on the pedestal because once I find out that she is not good enough and that she cannot be good enough, she will immediately be replaced by the daughter of the prime minister".
Jason said nothing and just kept looking at his grandfather. He understood what he meant and he also knew that It would not be easy to just let go of Nadia now. He was indeed happy about the fact that this might make her stay much longer, probably even forever. But at the same time, this might drift them apart. Even more apart than ever before.
He did not know what her reaction would be toward this and he also did not know if she would be able to live up to his grandpa's expectations.
"What do you intend to do then"?
He asked his grandfather and then, his grandfather smiled mischievously.
"You'll see".
He said and then, he stood up, faking a yawn, he said.
"I believe we are done talking for the night, you should let me and have my rest".
Grandpa said and began walking out of his study.
When Jason got back to his room, he saw a tiny-looking person sleeping on his bed. He moved closer to see her even better and he could not help but smile at how beautiful and innocent she looked when she was sleeping without a care in the world and he already knew that he wanted to give her that kind of life.
He wanted to make sure that she would never have anything to worry about as long as she stayed with him. He wanted to give her the world as long as she would take it, he wanted to promise her things but he wasn't sure if he was in the position to do that yet.
He has been trying to show her how he feels recently but he wasn't sure if she was noticing it nor was he sure if she felt the same way.
After looking at her for a while, he went to his own side of the bed and lay to sleep. He placed his hand around her tiny waist and with a happy smile plastered all over his face, he closed his eyes and slept off.
The day for Grandpa to go to the hospital has finally arrived. It was finally time for Grandpa to go for his checkup before being admitted for his surgery. Jason, his dad, and Derek went with Grandpa while I stayed back with Kay and Jason's mom.
"Nadia darling, can I see you for a little bit"?
Jason's mom called and I nodded as I immediately went over to sit with her.
"I'm really sorry, you might probably want to do something"?
She said in the form of a question which made me smile as I shook my head. I smiled because of how considerate she sounded. She sounded so cute even though I knew she was way older than me. She had a much bigger status than I could ever imagine. Yet, she was taking my feelings into consideration.
"No, I have nothing to do".
I replied in a calm and polite manner.
"Good then. I have been meaning to talk to you but I have not gotten the opportunity to".
She sounded a little bit too serious so the smile on my face could not stay anymore. Nadia? She asked and I raised my head to look at her.
"You do know that my son really loves you right"?
She asked but I did not reply. I didn't know if it was something to comment on or just wait to let her keep talking.
"I have never seen him this happy or settled in my entire life and to be honest, it makes me the happiest mother in the entire world. He has a childhood trauma that has left a permanent scar on his mind. Ever since then, he has never been the jolly and free-spirited child that we all knew him to be. Now that you are here, I see a little bit of that free spirit".
She sounded like a mom who would do anything just to see her son happy. I could understand the feeling. Although I did not have such a mother, deep down inside of me, I was happy that Jason did.
"I don't have much to ask for from you".
She said and then paused for a while before she continued.
"I just need you... to love my son as much as he loves you".
