"I just need you... to love my son as much as he loves you".
She looked at me with such a passionate face that I couldn't help but give her a comforting smile.
"I already love him much more".
I don't know if I just said that to comfort her or if I actually meant it but all I know, is that, she was finally smiling.
"Thank you, Nadia".
She smiled at me and I smiled back even wider.
My parents raised me to feel no one could love someone like me. They always told me that the only person capable of loving me was them and no one else.
Growing up with such a mentality made me feel I wasn't really worth much but then, I met Jason who was supposed to treat me worse than my parents could ever treat me. But instead, he treated me like an actual princess.
His family was so sweet to me and he was even better. Maybe I have fallen in love with him. I mean, who in their right mind wouldn't?
She had to meet some friends here in Los Angeles. So she excused herself and left. I was left alone at home with Kay but he decided to remain fixed in his room.
I also decided to stay in my room and wait for Jason to come back. I didn't know how long it would take but I was okay with waiting.
I picked up my phone and decided to google more about the Blake family.
Mr and Mrs Blake had just two daughters they had a son in between the two girls but he mysteriously died. He was very young but he just slept and never woke up again.
The doctors concluded it was early death and emotional fatigue and that was the end.
Melissa is the first child of the Blake's family. She is the definition of successful but she was a huge daddy's girl. According to what was written in some of the articles online, she was someone who got whatever it was she wanted with no exceptions. And all this was due to her father's influence.
"Waw, it must be very nice to be a prime minister's daughter".
I said as I kept reading about her. To be honest, she was someone to envy. She had everything people like me could not even dream of having. She had so much and aside from being financially competent, I could see that she was also very loved by both her parents.
I really envied that. Most of the time, I'd pretend like it didn't hurt to have the kind of parents I had but to be honest, it hurts a whole lot.
I then went ahead to read some articles relating to Anita. Most of the articles about her were not really nice. Some said she was a psychopathic child who tried to kill her sister, others said she was the most unneeded child in the Blake's family.
"Wahh!! Some people can kill by just talking".
Reading about her made me realize that I hadn't spoken to her ever since she came over. With that thought in mind, I decided to call her.
It didn't ring for long before she picked up the call.
"Big sis"?
She asked. I was definitely not used to it yet but it didn't feel as awkward as I thought it would be.
"Hey Annie, how are you doing"?
"I'm good. I've been contemplating on whether to call you or not. I did not know if you had forgiven me completely for the way I acted in the past. I'm really happy you called me first".
"I'm glad you picked".
I replied and I heard her chuckle lightly.
"Ahh, that reminds me. Where are you? Are you back home"?
She asked.
"Not yet, I don't know when I'll be back".
I replied.
"Ohh... Let me know when you come back okay"?
"Mnn".
I replied.
"Where are you now"?
I asked.
"I'm just at home... on my bed".
She said but since I didn't have anything to say, I just said I'd talk to her soon enough and ended the call.
As soon as the call ended, Jason's call came in and without knowing, I was smiling and moving around the bed sheepishly.
"Hello"?
I said when I had finally picked up his call.
"Hey... you good"?
He asked and I nodded as though he could see me.
"Yes, I'm fine".
I said and it took a few minutes before he spoke again but when he did, my heart could not help but skip a beat.
"I'm missing you".
He said and I couldn't help but blush really hard. I'd been trying to convince myself that I was not in love with him. But the rate at which things are going, I might as well be the one who is most in love with this guy.
"Are you still there"?
He asked after he noticed that she wasn't saying anything anymore.
"Yes... yes... I'm here".
I replied.
"Did you hear what I said"?
"Mnn".
I replied to his question.
"I miss you too".
I said not even knowing when it came out of my mouth. As soon as I said it, I used my hand to cover my mouth and my eyes opened wide.
Jason did not expect her to say it back. He was still trying to figure out if she really said it or if it was just his mind playing games on him.
Grandpa O'Brien was finally done with his checkup and the doctor said his surgery would begin in the next two days. So they were free to leave for today.
Grandpa O'Brien, their dad, and Derrick came out to tell Jason that they could leave now but when they got to him, he was stiff on one spot and his face was extremely red.
"Jas, it's time to..."
Derrick paused and looked at his brother.
"Jas... are you okay? Jas! Jas!!"
He said but Jason did not answer.
Over the phone, I could hear them yelling his name and I became very worried. I was about to speak when the line suddenly disconnected.
