three secretaries

'I think you were right chairman. She is a boss'.

I had a personal elevator that took me straight to the fifth floor which was the highest floor before the rooftop.

I was walking down the corridor when I heard lawyer Patrick speak.

"This entire floor belongs to you ma'am but it also has the conference room for all your important meetings".

He said and I was speechless. This was more than I had anticipated. This was so much more than I had ever dreamed of.

We finally got to my office and as soon as I got in, I was shocked.

This office was five times my apartment and it was completely glass. The only part that was not made of glass was the floor. I could see everything going on outside and they could probably see me too.

"If you get uncomfortable..."

Lawyer Patrick said and picked up a remote. He pressed a button and all the glasses were covered. I've seen these in movies but it was nothing compared to seeing it in reality.

I know I sound so inexperienced but these were things I never got the opportunity to see so seeing them all at once and knowing that I own them all, was really overwhelming.

"I'll let you rest for ten minutes, after that, we'll have to go to the meeting".

He said and I nodded gently with a light smile.

There was nobody on this floor with me anymore. I went towards my desk and sat on my main chair. From here, I could see every part of the office. The couches were well arranged so that if I had guests, I would not have to sit on my desk to talk to them.

The couches had three sitters on both sides and a head couch a bit further from my desk. It was chocolate brown but it almost looked like black. They were like square shapes and had this dignifying presence even though they were just couches.

I had a coffee stand and I could not wait to try it. I looked around a little more before lawyer Patrick came over to take me for the meeting.

"It's time".

He said and I simply nodded.

When we got to the second floor, it appeared I wasn't supposed to have a meeting first but instead, the interview. The people lined outside were about fifteen. And it seems they had waited for a while.

I walked into the interview room and saw four people. Two men and two women which I assumed would carry out the interview with me.

As soon as they saw me, they all stood up and bowed. I bowed lightly and walked to the empty chair which was right in the middle.

There was a young lady by the door and just as I finished sitting, she spoke.

"Can I call the first three"?

She asked and I made a 'hnn' sound.

The first three came in and it went on like that. This particular interview was for my secretary and some departmental heads. I had already picked out a few for departmental heads.

There were some random people who did not make the cut to be departmental heads but I could see their passion, determination, and for some, desperation.

I did not pick anyone out of pity. I could not afford to pick anyone who would ruin what I was about to start. Instead, I picked people with vision.

It was finally the last batch but the young lady by the door said she wanted to inform us of something.

"I'm sorry for the intrusion but the last batch has four candidates".

"What are you talking about"?

One of the women with me spoke.

"Dismiss one of them".

She finalized but I stopped her.

"That would not be necessary, let the four of them come in. Bring an extra chair".

I said and she bowed and left.

"The last batch of the interview will now come in".

She said as the four candidates walked in. I raised my head gently to look at them and when I saw the last applicant, my eyes opened wide.

"Anita"?

I said quietly. I could not understand why she was in my company, in search of a job.

"Introduce yourselves".

The man on my left side spoke.

"Hello, I am Li Sa-ra, I am a graduate and I have often traveled. I have lots of experience and promise to do my best".

My fellow interviewers looked at each other and nodded their heads. They obviously felt she was a good decision.

"Hello, my name is Manasseh Gloria, I graduated from a prestigious university and have worked in two fashion houses so far".

"Hello, my name is Tin Foley, I'm a graduate. I graduated from one of the most prestigious institutions in China and have chased my dreams ever since".

She said with a bright smile on her face.

"Where are you from"?

I asked as her name intrigued me.

"Uhh, my father is from China but my mother is Irish".

I nodded and instinctively said.

"That's nice".

The young lady could not hide her smile.

"Hello, my name is Anita Blake. I graduated from Harvard University and though I have no experience in fashion designing, I promise to give it my best".

They had all introduced themselves and now, it was Tim for me to choose my secretary.

"What do you think ma'am".

The man at my left asked but I did not look at him and just spoke.

"What do I do? I like all of them".

I said and they were all smiling. All of them except Li Sa-ra.

"Miss Manasseh"?

I called and she immediately answered.

"I know you can do a good job... seeing how experienced you are, how about you be an assisting manager for the clothing production team"?

She covered her mouth but I knew she was smiling.

"I will not disappoint. I promise".

I looked down and said.

"You may leave. Go and get your processing started".

She bowed happily and left.

"Miss Tin Foley"?

"Yes"?

"Miss Anita Blake and Miss Li Sa-ra".

I called the remaining three and they all looked at me.

"I can only choose two out of the three of you but I like all three".

When Nadia said this, Tin Foley was smiling but her hands were shaking. She needed this job more than anything. She came here with very little hope but now, she felt she'd kill herself if she didn't get the job.

Li Sa-ra looked so calm it looked like she didn't care if she got the job or not but deep down she knew she'd be sleeping in the home for the homeless if she didn't get this job. Her parents had placed her in so much debt after their company was ruined and after their death, she was left alone to pay for everything. She needed the job more than anything.

Anita Blake was surprised when she saw Nadia sitting there as the boss. No one knew who the boss was until today so it came as a shock to her. She was really hoping she got the job so that she'd stop leaching on the O'Brien's. She felt embarrassed and she did not want to go back home.

"It says here that you have worked as a security guard".

I said to Li Sa-ra.

"Yes ma'am I did that for two months".

I nodded and finally gave my result.

"This might seem weird but I don't think I can let go of any of you".

I said and I could see them relaxing a little.

"But..."

I said and they tensed up again.

"I can't have all three of you as my secretaries".

"What will you do ma'am"?

One of the women asked me.

"I'll work with three of you for three months... The best will keep the position".
