Chapter - 9

Betty Director was sitting at her desk. A frown had settled there for the last half-hour. The cause; a dossier on William Afton. Officially he was a brilliant engineer who created the most advanced animatronics ever. He had worked exclusively for Fazbear Entertainment. He also had a hand in designing and creating every animatronic from the original Fred Bear, to his last creation Circus Baby and the Fun-time crew.

After that the file became somewhat inconsistent. It said he had children, but didn't give any specifics, like how many or even their general descriptions. One son appears to have been bullied and thrown into the mouth of Fred Bear, where they received a head injury, and was stuck in a coma for about a week. Then seemingly without hesitation or warning the father had the plug pulled. For safety reasons Fred Bear and his partner, Spring Bonnie were replaced with several new animatronics. Freddy Fazbear, Chica, Cupcake, Bonnie, and Foxy. The new crew were received with some popular fanfare. Until the group of kids responsible for what happened to Afton's kid went missing.

William Afton was a person of interest, but was never charged because they didn't have enough evidence beyond motive. The fact the children were never found also proved problematic. Afton then created both the Toy crew and the Fun-time crew.

Then there was incident involving his daughter and Circus Baby. Then the pattern repeated, with everyone attached to the party, whether they were an attending child or a chaperoning parent. Nine disappeared before Afton's own mysterious disappearance, the rest strangely enough disappeared after, and not immediately either but over the course of two decades.

Betty let out a sigh. The real problem with the file was that both names and dates were unreadable. She looked through the descriptions to figure out the time table. The Fun-time Crew and the Sister Location were built at the height of the franchises popularity, and the Toy Crew was made in a attempt to revive the franchise. So, it would make sense to a point. When the Fun-time crew was being made, five people went missing. Their connection to Afton was almost nonexistent. One was a former girlfriend, but they broken up months prior, and another was a former Fazbear employee, but reason for termination or even length of employment is unavailable. As for the other three, if there was a connection to Afton it was brief, passing, and unofficial. Which means if Afton was responsible, he did it for a incredibly petty reason, if any at all.

Another wierd anomaly was that while he was building the Toy Crew, invoices indicated that Afton had built another five animatronics. Only there is no record of these animatronics ever being presented to the public eye.

Afton's last known appearance was after the completion of the Toy Crew. He then left to see if the original Fazbear gang could be salvaged. After that, he was never seen again. Eventually, all known animatronics were taken to a warehouse, where they were left to rot, especially after a fire caused the warehouse to collapse into a sinkhole.

That was the end of her predecessors' file. Her own research indicated that Five years ago, Fazbear Entertainment tried to revive the franchise with the Mega Pizzeria and the Glamrock Crew. That was when six more individuals disappeared, a little digging, and Betty discovered that five had also been in attendance to the Circus Baby incident. As for the last one, Gregory was in fact the child of the last attendee who had died of a car crash a few months earlier.

Eventually, the Mega Pizzeria collapsed, an investigation revealed that the construction crew had supposedly cut corners. Fazbear Entertainment then apparently decided to leave everything down there, until five months ago. That was when Fazbear Entertainment, after years of PR moves, decided to collect every animatronic that was stored there, no matter how old and have them restored by a local inventor/engineer who had developed a reputation for taking completely destroyed pieces of machinery and restoring them factory fresh. While no disappearances were reported, there was still a tragedy involving the family.

For the first, Betty found herself taking a serious look at the file, or more specifically the photos. She searched through and found a few things that caught her eye. Namely the fact that several of the more nightmarish ones clearly had blood on them but there is no mentioning of them being processed as evidence. That alone was weird. Then a memory flashed into her head. This cased was still left unresolved for one reason. Despite all efforts, no bodies were ever found. The Happy Man said that the animatronics had been traumatized because what they were forced to witness. If that was true, it would mean they had an important secret. It meant that they knew where the bodies were buried.

She checked her schedule, she had a rare day in which nothing was scheduled. She decided to fill it with something vague, she didn't want anyone to think that she was wasting agency resources on frivolous things. She get some one on one time with the Happy Man and then share what she knows with Kim. Then they can compare what they've learned and go from there.

Betty stood up then became more aware of her uniform. She sighed and figured if she didn't want to stand out she'll need some civilian clothes. 'It shouldn't be too bad.' She thought as she began to make preparations.

A group of individuals and a dog were sitting at a table, they were talking about the upcoming trip. The one called Fred spoke first, "So, Mystery Inc. is going across country to see the Hex Girls preform live." The girl in a orange sweater named Velma, answered, "That right, it's suppose to mark both an end to their world tour and a successful six month anniversary for the venue."

The red hair girl named Daphne asked, "Why does the venue need a celebration for a six month anniversary? Don't they usually have that for a first year completed for new franchises?" Velma answered, "Normally yes, but this company isn't actually new. Evidently they had issues with some scandal happening that always forces it to shut down no matter what attempt they make to try a revival. Their celebrating because this is the first time they've gone so long without any trouble."

The remaining two, Shaggy and Scooby-Doo who had been eating the whole stopped and Shaggy asked, "Like, what kind of scandals? Please don't tell me it's the kind we get involved with." Velma looking at her laptop answered, "No, it's more missing individuals and injuries involving the animatronic entertainers. As well as the occasional mental breakdown. So far there has been no such scandal, but there does to be some kind of online challenge for people to try and stay there for five whole nights. From the moment it closes at ten o'clock at night to the moment it opens at six in the morning."

Fred with a bewildered look asked, "Why would anyone do something that ridiculous?" Velma looked up from her computer and said, "There is a mystery benefactor who is offering 100,000 dollars to each person who completes the challenge with video proof." The others were shocked by that statement, Velma continued, "Of course there is no real proof that it's real. But that hasn't stopped wannabe internet celebrities from trying. However, so far none have even gotten past the first hour before the one in charge of the night security throws them out. People have gotten so desperate that they've actually tried to damage the animatronics, those people get thrown into jail." Daphne impressed, asked, "That is impressive, does your computer say who this super night guard is?"

Velma excitedly answered, "That's the thing the night guard is actually an animatronic called the Happy Man." She turned her computer around to show everyone, and she continued, "Of course calling him an animatronic is like calling the Mona Lisa a doodle. If even half the stuff I've read about him is true then he could be an actual honest to goodness android."

The gang immediately understood Velma's excitement. She really got excited at level for two things. The Hex Girls and Sci-Fi worthy technology. A machine so realistic that it can be mistaken for a real human certainly would qualify. While Velma went on about the creator, Shaggy had an uneasy feeling in the back of his mind. Something about what he heard was sending up red flags on his spooky detector.

Then a rumble in his stomach reminded him that there was food still left to be eaten. He figured if it was really important he would remember later. The gang continued to discuss the trip and the concert in two weeks.

H.M. looked down at the sight before him. An amusing spectacle of a the one called Penny Proud being forced to accept that she is undergoing a savage skull-fucking not by his hands but by her own mother. Plus the fact that she has yet to become aware of her new nature made the look in her eyes all the more stimulating.

After having his fun with Carmen, he decided that Penny was to be left in her cell for a week. She never caught on to the fact she no longer needed to eat or sleep. It was made all the more evident how oblivious she was when she tried to criticize her friends acting like they've only been separated for a few hours.

Why was he being so cruel to her, some might ask. The truth her entitled attitude brought up some unpleasant memories for everyone else, himself included. It instilled the desire to break her slowly. The others were okay with that. He had been making great progress in both his projects and in having the new gorls get used to their new lot in life, mostly because due to the lack of attempts by people who tried to stay for the night over the last week.

As Trudy got her daughter ready for next position, Penny tried to plead for her mother to stop. Trudy smiled and said, "Sorry baby, but this is for your own good." She then started kissing Penny, while H.M. position himself and started thrusting.

The sound of flesh slapping against flesh were quite prominent as any sounds from Penny were muffled by her mother. Then her former friends started to licking various parts of her body. It was Sunday morning, he had a full day of fun planned. One that Penny would never forget or even recover from, if she had in fact still been human.

Betty Director was looking at the sign for the restaurant, silently amusing herself with the fact that she was back at this place. It was a Monday morning, the place had only been open for half an hour. So, it was no real surprise to find almost no children, just some adults hoping to recapture a piece of their childhood, and collage students trying to settle some beef with competitive games. She searched for her subject, to no avail. It was weird considering that he should be on the floor during business hours.

She had a decision to make. She either wait patiently, sicking out like a sore thumb, or she could search for him. Maybe even catch him off-guard. She chose the latter and began to search and ended up in a place she shouldn't have.

Kim had just returned from her latest mission. It had been tough since Monique died, but Ron helped her through. A sudden call on her communicator had her slightly miffed. When she answered she was slightly surprised when it wasn't Wade, but rather a an old looking scientist. Kim recognized him as someone who worked at GJ.

They had contacted her wanting to know if she had any recent contact with the director. Evidently she had been missing for the last two days. She told them no, and then immediately offered to help. They declined, saying they already have their top agents working on it. The concern about the situation was clear.

Kim could tell that they wanted to have her help, but some regulation probably prevented them from accepting. This situation caused her to wince as she recalled her friend Monique and what she felt at her loss. She also hasn't been able to contact Carmen lately. Wade tried contacting Player, but with no success.

Kim needed help, her mind went through a list of everyone who be of helped. A few possibilities, but the only one who could keep up was Yuri. Kim would need some time to figure out how best to ask. Besides the missions were still needing to be done. That pizzeria wasn't caught in some huge scandal. It was just her instinct that made her suspicious.

She had time. Suddenly her communicator started to beep. It was her mother, apparently her brothers had been preparing to attempt the five nights at Freddy's challenge. She wanted Kim to help stop them from doing it. As she ended the call, Kim thought, 'I can't let my tweeb brothers do something so dangerous, but I could potentially use whatever prep work they did for my own attempt.' She left for home unaware of a small drone observing her in secret.

A blue and green van with flowers painted on the side was driving down the highway. Fred was driving, the girls were riding in front, and Shaggy and Scooby were in the back. Shaggy decided to ask, "Like, Velma, why are we taking a detour to talk with the engineer who restored the animatronics?"

Velma still looking at her laptop answered, "While researching Fazbear Entertainment, I discovered an alarming number of disappearances, accidents, and other unusual phenomenons. Through my own investigation I found discrepancies. It looks like the company has been hiding the fact that people over the last couple of decades have gone crazy while attempting to restore the company's reputation.

We're going to the engineer, because he and his family were the last people to work on animatronics. Besides, wouldn't you feel better knowing whether or not a mystery was waiting for us?"

Shaggy gave the idea some serious thought and then said, "I guess it's better to know ahead of time rather or not we could end up trapped inside a haunted restaurant. *sigh* At least there will be food." With that Shaggy started to make a sandwich, with Scooby joining in.
