Chapter 19: The Crooked Crown

Dominique's POV

I had no idea what time it was when they finally came to get me the next day. I knew it had to be the next day, because a man came to bring me breakfast: incredibly terrible coffee and something pretending to be a blueberry muffin.

"Eat up, you've got five minutes until you meet the Boss," the strange man from yesterday advised me, "And trust me, you don't want to keep him waiting."

His head was shaved, but he had a long, rust-colored beard that reached his shoulders. He was dressed in clean jeans and a flannel shirt. I complied, mostly because I didn't know what else to do. It sounded like I was going to need my strength for whatever was coming, and I was determined to survive. I needed to see Griffin again.
