Griffin's POV
It had never crossed my mind that Dominique might never have had her wolf. I just assumed that she shifted when I wasn't present. Some of our kind prefer it that way, to be alone for the change. That she finally had, and it was with me, pleased me greatly. That she was comfortable with me, that I made her feel safe.
"I love you," I whispered, and shifted into my own second form, a massive black creature. Her wolf nipped playfully at mine, and took off toward the treeline, urging me to follow. We ran over grassy hills under the moon. The night was lush and beautiful around us. The stars seemed to glitter like fairy lights under the canopy of darkness. We ran and ran until, panting and exhausted, we came back to the apple tree and bench.
