Chapter 25: Lucinda

Lucinda's POV

We were only sixteen when we met. It was love at first sight. At least, for me it was. Griffin as a young man was sweet perfection. Longish hair, sweet smile, and those eyes. It was his eyes that always drew me in. When Griffin focused on you, it was as if you were the only one in the world. Being the center of his attention was like being in the sun. All of that energy, that intelligence, that fire. It made a girl feel like a queen.

But all kingdoms crumble eventually. I knew he was looking at other women. He said he was never unfaithful, and that might have been true, or might not have been... I don't think I will ever know. In any case, I could feel his attention waning. The sun passing behind a cloud. And when that light, that power was gone, I'm ashamed to say now that it made me desperate. I did things I shouldn't have. But I was young, and in love. And just coming into my powers.
