Chapter 10

Beckett

This shower is amazing. I don't think one has ever been more needed as this one is. I can't believe I've worked here as long as I have without knowing there's essentially an apartment off the side of the bakery. Although I understand why she kept it to herself. I would too, if I were a woman who spent a lot of time here by myself.

I want to be nosey and get into her space, but I realize that's not why she's invited me here. She needed my help and I offered, not because of what she can do for me, but what I can do for her.

"Your turn," I walk out wearing a pair of sweatpants and shirt I keep in my truck just in case I'm somewhere I need to change clothes.

"Be back in a few," she leaves behind a trail of her strawberry-scent as she heads toward the shower I just vacated.
