In-between Our Destinies

"Uhh I…" Laleen didn't know what to say as her questions came out of the blue.

Elizabeth seemed to have calmed down as she breathed audibly.

"I mean, are you free? I'd like to see you" Her voice was much calmer and Laleen only sighed tiredly.

"Alright. How about after your work closes? It's your first day today, isn't it? We'll meet at the same place as before?"

"That's fine" Elizabeth agreed with a smile.

Recalling something, Laleen suddenly asked, "How about the blind date Beth? Did the plan work?"

Elizabeth instantly froze as her breath hitched. To be reminded of that horrible episode so early in the morning. Surely her morning wouldn't go well today.

"I'll fill you in on the details when we see." Her words came a bit rushed as if she didn't want to talk about it.

"Alright. See you then" Laleen bid her goodbye with furrowed eyebrows.

"Bye," Beth responded softly before ending the call.
