A silence so shocking yet so awkward permeated the afternoon air as Laleen stared dumbly at Shane.
Huh? Did he just say he won't be seeing her parents? What was she supposed to do?
And why was she even surprised?
Remembering her auntie's words, her eyebrows dipped towards a tight knot and she sat up from the couch she had been sitting on.
"Why won't you?" The wind carried her voice softly to Shane's ears in question.
Taking a deep breath, Shane pondered for a second on the right words to use.
"It's inconvenient" he dully replied.
His face was blank and unruffled as he stared at the confused girl in front of him.
Truly for Shane, it was inconvenient. But even more so is the fact that it wasn't safe.
He'd rather not interact with her family if he could help it. Their coming from a line of witches made everything worse.
