Chapter 7.

Suzu can't stop thinking about what happened: "Why I say too much, and now I make it even worse than before. I don't want to argue with her, I just want to talk." She doesn't expect it's going to be like that. She thought if she talked with Rei about what happened in the past, Rei will accept her as a friend again. "What do you mean it's not going to be easy for us? Why?" The more she thinks about it, the more her wants to know what happened to Rei.

After Suzu left the house, she felt better after taking medicine. She sighed heavily, Rei had kind of regret about letting Suzu in, but she realized the past is the past, 'It's not like I can do anything if I think over and over again. It's already happened.' Rei hopes tomorrow don't have drama or anything that involves her.

The silence in the library makes Suzu feel more awkward. Suzu doesn't know how to bring up about what happened yesterday. When she looked at Rei, she asked, How can she be so calm after what happened yesterday?' Rei sat in front of her, heard about what she said, "Why do I need to make a fuss about what happened yesterday, It's not an important thing." Suzu startled and immediately cover her mouth, she couldn't believe that she accidentally said it out loud. "Erm, about yesterday... I'm sorry." Rei sighed lightly. "Look, I don't know what the reason is that you want to talk to me again after what happened in the past. Why do you want to know about the past so badly? If your reason is to talk to me again because you want me to be your friend again, you should put aside about the past. Don't make what happened in the past your excuses. What happened to me, it's not your business. Don't come to me and ask me about the past again if you don't want me to hate you."

Suzu keeps thinking about what Rei said to her a few seconds ago, "I think you should stop dozing off, the works will not do if you act like that." After Suzu heard what Rei said, she apologised and do her work. 

After a few hours, the task that assigned to them is finished. When they are outside the library, Suzu ask Rei if they can go to the café shop to celebrate. Rei don't want to go, but she thinks that she was a bit harsh to Suzu in that library, so she just agreed with Suzu. When they were already outside the school, Suzu saw a black car that seemed to be the same car at the day's entrance ceremony. They approached the car and someone came out of it. The person looked at Suzu, and they smiled at her. "Good evening, Miss Nagihara, My name is Amamiya Misha. You can call me Misha." Suzu doesn't expect that Misha will know her name. Rei told Misha about their plan. Suzu looked at both of them, they don't look like servant or employers. 

Misha drives the car to go to the café shop, Misha starts a conversation with Suzu. Rei is not interested in the topic they talked, just remains silent while read a novel. When Suzu feels comfortable with Misha, she asks Misha what her relationship with Rei is, and she explains why she asked about that. Misha answers her question, "Miss Rei and I are friends. We have been friends since she came to America. A lot has happened, and now I'm her personal assistant." Misha didn't tell her more details, and she thought it was okay because they just met, so Suzu don't want to rush anything. Now she knows the reason they don't act like employer and servants. 

"Please give me one hot Americano and Castella (honey-flavored cake) and one parfait. That's all, Thank you." After the waitress left the table, Rei looked at Suzu, she looked surprised, and then Rei realised she ordered one of Suzu favourite dessert. "I hope your favourite doesn't change." When Suzu heard about it, she said, "No, it's still the same. Thank you for ordering it." Rei continued to read her novel, she acted like she didn't care about it.

"That's not bad for after what we went through yesterday. It's surprised me Rei still remembered what my favourite dessert was, and she just agreed when I asked her to go to the café shop together." Suzu told Sara about what happened that evening through a phone call. "You know what Rei told you in the library, I agreed about that. Why not, you just don't ask her about the past. If you really want to know, you need to be her friend again. One day, she's going to tell you. When you met her, why don't you say 'Hi' and approach her with small talk, I think she will be opened to you more." Suzu thinks she did something that she shouldn't do yesterday, and part of Sara's advice is useful for her to get closer with Rei. 'I hope Rei will accept me to be her friend again.'

"You do a great job today." Misha said to Rei in her study room. "I really want to stay away from her, but the way she acted in the library after what I said to her, it's painful to watch. After all, I don't want to see her with sad face again. It's enough with what happened in the past, I don't want to go through it again. In the end, I still loved her, even though it's one-sided."

"Girls, why you don't play together with her?" the teacher asked them because it's weird that the kid been ignored by the other kids. "We already asked her, but she doesn't want to play with us." She approached that girl after she listened what the other kids told her. "Hi, why don't want to play with other kids ?" That little girl just stared at her with no answer. When she wanted to talk with that little girl, one of her students approached them and said she will play with her. She's glad that other kids still want to play with her, so she left them alone. "Hi, my name is Suzu. What is your name?" At first, she just ignored that kid but when that kid kept looking at her, she said, "Rei." The little girl's name, Suzu, doesn't mean what she said, and she sighed lightly. "I said, my name is Rei." She looked at Suzu, 'Why she keep looking at me?' Rei felt uncomfortable, "Is this something wrong with my face?" Suzu got startled, "No, it's just surprised me." Rei confused. "Surprised? Why?" Little Suzu smiled and said, "It's because you tell me your name. It makes me happy." Rei ignored her because Suzu said nonsense. "Why you don't want to play with them?" In her mind, Rei just wanted to go home. "I don't like to sit in the circle with many people." She hoped that Suzu will go away after she said that, but the unexpected happened. "If that's so, come play with us. It's just the two of us. Me and my best friend, Sara." Rei really doesn't expect that, "What will I get if I play with both of you?" Suzu smiled, and she said, "You will get us. A friend."

They started to get closer. This is because when Rei ignored them, they just kept approach and play with Rei. Unfortunately, their friendship suddenly fell apart. When they're in fifth grade, Rei's behaviour changes when it comes to Suzu. Rei doesn't understand at all what has happened to her. When Suzu got closer with someone else, she felt some unpleasant feelings. They always got into a fight because of that. Rei cannot bear it anymore, so she asked her mother about that. Her mother told her that what she felt was jealousy, the reason she felt that was because they've been friends since in first grade, That's what her mother told her. She just listened what her mother told her until she discovered the truth about her feelings. She doesn't want her mother, Suzu or other people to know about her feelings. So, she came up with a plan. The plan will hurt her and Suzu, but she still wanted to do it because she wanted to protect herself and Suzu.

The next day, she started to bully Suzu. The reason she came up with that plan was because she wanted Suzu to hate her. There is another way, but it's not enough to make Suzu hate her. Every single day, she bullies Suzu and she came to hate it. She decided that the next day will be her last day, and she will not go to school anymore. Rei want her mother know about that, so she talked with her and explained everything she had been through all this time. "Alright, I will get everything done. If you want to go somewhere else, why not go to America?" Rei nodded to agree, "I'm glad I'm your daughter, mother." They both smiled, and her mother hugged her tightly. "I don't know, that's what you've been through. I'm sorry, sweetie." Rei hugged her mother back. "It's my decision to keep it away from everyone, so it's not your fault, mother."
