Julie:
Hmm, everything hurts; it feels like my body is on fire or chained to a bed, something really cold. I can hear people talking around me, but I can’t make out the voices; there are too many. It feels like someone is crying, but why? Why is it all of a sudden quiet?
I tried opening my eyes, but a horrible pain shot through my head. Breathing through my teeth, I tried again, and this time it worked, but I closed them again due to the amount of light that entered my eyes. I opened them one more time, blinking a few times so my eyes could get used to the light.
Looking around, there was no one in the room—at least that’s what I thought. Still, I saw Alex sleeping on the sofa at the far end. What is he doing here? I tried to get up as fast as I could, but the pain in my head increased, causing me to let out a scream. Alex was up and now by my side. I felt so weak and dizzy; all I wanted to do right now was go to bed and sleep.
