It's hard to say goodbye

Lillac's POV

When I wake up the next day from my slumber, Diane was no longer in the bed or in the room . I wonder where she went but I'm also glad she's out because I don't know how to explain if she asked why I slept in the bed . I'll eventually have to come up with an explanation though.

She returned a while later but she never asked the questions I thought she'd ask. We make some small talks about things but she never brought up last night. When I started about how she was sleeping on the desk , she just shrugged and change the topic.

I don't know why but she seems to be avoiding the topic. Well isn't that convenient? It's not like I wanna talk about it either. If both of us want to forget it then who's to say we can't?

I pushed the thoughts at the back of my mind and head to class . I wonder if Mihui and Minah have made up yet . My doubts are answered when I saw them sitting so far apart. Well at least they didn't skip classes . I went and sit beside Mihui. I already talked with Minah yesterday so it's time for the other perspective.

The class is long and boring. I just wanted to hear Mihui's side of the story but I can't ask with the professor sending daggers at the slightest noise . Ugh she's just too strict and boring. No wonder she's still single at 43 . I really loved my major when I decided on it . I mean it's true that the numbers and chart can drive you mad but if you can get into it , it's really so intriguing. But finally Professor Caitlin managed to make me hate my classes. She's just so grumpy and old fashioned. Even the way she dress is soo... Education is great and all but we need to relax a little. Why does she have to make the class feel like a prison? I get it ! You want everyone to focus on the topic when you're teaching but how are we supposed to enjoy the class when you give us that look for breathing loudly. Ughh I can't wait for it to end .

The class ended eventually but the next class teacher was equally strict and I totally missed my chance to pry from Mihui. She just got up and leave right after the bell. Damn girl ! Not even a good-bye?

When I turn around to look for Minah, she was also long gone. These sisters are something else. We also have two classes today and seeing as there is no plan of hanging out , I slowly walked to my dorm room. Diane wasn't there yet . She probably have more classes. My girl took two majors when I can't even handle one . Today is really boring. Boring class , boring day , boring room all alone everything sucks. I lay on my bed for what seems like forever until I heard my phone ringing. It was a rare occasion of my mom calling . Seems important, since she really hate international calls . I picked up wondering what she has to say . As soon as I picked up though, I could hear my mom sobbing on the other side. I immediately knew why she called. It seems Grandpa passed on to the other side . We all were expecting it but it doesn't make saying goodbye any easier. I console my crying mother trying to find the right words to say. She just sobbed without a word for a few minutes.

" I'll have to stay for his last rites. " She finally said.

" Okay mom . Do you want me to come ?" I asked. Part of me wish she'd say no . I've always had a hard time witnessing deads and loss . But still I loved Grandpa.

" No honey ! Everything will be over by the time you arrived anyway. Just focus on your college. You're getting used to the dorm right? " She replied.

" Yup! Everything's great here . Stay strong mom ." I said ending the call .

After the news of his passing, all the memories of Grandpa flash on my mind . I don't have many memories with him but the few I had were all happy ones . It's always hard to say goodbye even if you know it's coming. I let my tears fall freely for some time . Goodbye Grandpa! I hope you're happy up there .
