Chapter 13: Another fall

Being a hindrance to something or someone sucks. You keep whatever you hinder from moving at a normal pace, making it appear weak. I appeared to be a hindrance to Kin. He kept my shoulders above him, trying his best to make us move together. we were heading back to where I dropped my bag, I told him about the eggs that I got, our stomachs both rumbled with hunger, and one egg yolk was not enough to satisfy a belly that dreamt of meat.

"I pray they aren't there," I said, removing my arms from Kin's shoulder, my ankle still hurt me badly, but my wrist only hurt me when I strained it, which was different from my ankle, My nose ached and tingled every now and then, where I was hit by the deer hurt also, and I was also starving. I was a waking pain.

"Wait for me here, I'll go and get your bag. No wait, the direction we are heading will lead us back to camp." Kin said while he scratched his neck.

"Yah, let's keep going, I can walk, I only need a painkiller that's all," I said feeling a bit dizzy. Yes again. Kin came to me putting my arms across his shoulders again. If we possibly get back to camp, there are a few drugs I could use to heal my injuries and subside my pain.

"Dane, I still have some questions to ask you." Kin paused from walking.

"What are they?" I asked with My eyes turning around still feeling dizzy.

"My sister, when you left her, was she fine?" He was eager for an answer.

"Yes she was, I trust she's back at camp with Myloe," I said regaining a conscious state. Kin took a deep breath and sighed,

" I'm afraid of what you showed me last night," I said

"What was that?" I knew he understood what I meant but he tried covering it up with a question.

"What you said I should look at, at my right last night. Do you think they are still around? or they've found them at the camp?" I asked still having the feeling of the other night overwhelming me. My breathing was intense with the probability of what we saw lurking around us.

"I don't know !" Kin shouted, his voice sounded like he was frustrated.

I had to ask the question that crept inside me: "Kin, do you still think there is still a camp?"

"We have to find out. We are presently lost, we don't have Myloe to navigate. All we have to do is head east" Kin said while he and I pressed forward, I was pretty sure our camp was west not east, it was west 'cause I remembered we went four miles south from our camp where we saw the stream and the deer.

"I think our camp's west not east," I said, Kin ignored me as we still pressed forward.

After waking for about six minutes we spotted my bag, lying scattered on the ground, most of the contents in it I saw scattered on the ground. I saw some eggs broken. When we got closer I confirmed that all the eggs were broken. I was angry at the fact that my efforts in getting the eggs were wasted.

"Well, I guess we have to start heading for camp." Kin brought my bag to me, two eggs were broken in it.

" There's a bird in that tree, a bird I killed," I said to my friend.

"Wow," Kin had an enthusiastic look on his face, before I spoke any further he began to climb the tree.

"Tell me where it is when I get there" Kin rushed as he climbed the tree and I feared for his safety.

"Be careful, the branches that lead to the bird are weak, that's why I almost fell" I shouted to him, he had gotten to the first firm branch that took me the night before.

"You almost fell..." My friend said mocking and laughing at me remembering the incident. He had gotten to the enclosure of the tree, "Where do I head now?"

"You'll see a bird's nest-" I was saying before I was cut Off by Kin.

"Have found it," Kin yelled pleased with what he had seen.

"Now. Bro, you have to be very, very, careful as I said most of the branches that lead to nest are very weak and since you have a bulk body a fall from that height isn't going to be funny." I yelled to him, praying he heard me. I heard the leaves of the tree rattle and I saw the branches shake.

"Hey, Dane, have gotten the bird, it's not that big though, but it'll serve us till night. Do you know the bird species? and oh, your mini spear's in it."

"Well I don't know the species of the bird, I am not Myloe," I said waiting for my friend to come back down safe and sound.

"Give me a sec' we will need some branches in case we need to start a fire to roast the bird and also for tonight if we don't make it back to camp, I'll throw the bird and your spear down." I saw the bird fall to the ground, then I saw my spear follow. I limped towards the bird. Wait how did those idiots unzip my bag? I wondered how they did, oh it wasn't zipped when I fell, I remembered. I opened my bag and used the towel in it to clean the broken eggs that stunk in it. I placed my Mini spear and the bird in my bag, all I waited for now was Kin.

" Am gonna throw some branches down now" Kin yelled not waiting for an answer. I saw dozens of small sticks fall like rain, Kin didn't care where he threw the sticks to one of the sticks a very good-sized be nearly hit me. I walked while I still limped a bit and gathered the branches together as if I formed a circle. Everything was suddenly quiet, Kin wasn't making a ruckus on the tree, I bet he was coming down until I heard a snap above me and I saw a figure fall to the ground.
