Chapter Eighteen

CHAPTER EIGHTEEN

Winter

I feel my heart drop to the pit of my stomach. I've never been a fan of spiders, and these ones are huge.

Alec pops his fangs out, bracing himself for the fight ahead.

The spiders are getting closer and closer. I can see eyes glistening in the green light. They're so big, so terrifying.

With a suddenness that makes me jump, Alec charges forward. He lands on the first spider, tearing it apart.

Suddenly, adrenaline courses through me. Dropping the backpack so I don't have the extra weight, I run headfirst into the fray, meeting several spiders.

I grab the first spider and slam it onto the ground, using my supernatural strength to crush its exoskeleton. Another spider tries to lunge at me from behind, but I quickly turn and use my telekinesis to create a gust of wind that sends it flying back against the wall.

"Well, there it is," I mumble. My telekinesis is probably the least reliable of any of my powers. I never know when it will show up.
