Chapter Nineteen

CHAPTER NINETEEN

Damon

"Nora? Can I have a minute of your time?"

She's in the kitchens, bent over some papers with the head cook. It's obviously a busy time for her, and I wish I could catch her when she wasn't preoccupied, but there's no such thing. The woman has been working twenty-hour days.

Plus, this is important. It can't wait any longer.

"Sure." She glances at the cook. "I'll be right back."

She joins me in the doorway, but I clear my throat and jerk my head at the hall. "Can we talk somewhere more private?"

Nora nods, following me as I lead her down the hall and into an empty conference room. As soon as we're inside, I shut the door and turn to her.

"What's going on, Damon?" Nora's eyes are serious, and I can see the worry etched on her face.

"There are scrolls missing from the library. Expensive ones. And I'm pretty sure I know who took them."

Nora's forehead wrinkles with worry. "Who?"
