Chapter 4

The first thing Ba Yihan had done when he heard this information was go inside. After all, technically, he wasn't supposed to know about this information. So, the best idea was to just act ignorant. After all, if he just acted ignorant, then there would be no need to bug people.

Yue Taishun only informed him about the fact that he would have to go to a coastal city and fight something with a small ensemble of unique disciples, all to find a way to fight this…. Jeez, I don't even remember what Yue Taishun said! I was too busy focusing on the fool's confidence!

With a small melody created as Ba Yihan blew out in a specific fashion, he began to whistle an old tune. He did so as he sat on his bed, his legs outstretched onto the patterned comforter. To say it was fancy was an entire other conversation starter. The entire room would have been classified as fancy. Not necessarily for Ba Yihan, since he had stayed in better. But, looking from an outsider point of view, the room looked exactly like what someone would assume from one of the four main cultivation provinces.

It was dusted, swept, and even his bedsheets were warm, as if they dried in the warm sun. The person who washed his bedsheets must have gone all the way over Ya Hui to Tiancha Dynasty, since that is the closest area that anyone would consider warm. Such a dark place. Perfect for living, walking corpses.

Walking corpses were an odd formality in this country's study. Sure, there were talismans, prayers, creatures, and energies, but walking corpses were the odd one out of all of them. Which is why Ba Yihan was so interested in walking corpses, and why that creature hasn't been understood yet.

And of course, Liu Bai He Clan has the largest library out of the four provinces. Specifically in Tian Shui. It would be simply ridiculous if they didn't have a book specifically about walking corpses. Or thirty. Ooh! That's another goal! Make it to the largest library at Tian Shui!

As seen on Ba Yihan's desk, a book with a fabric cover sat, having brought it from the capital to Tiancha Dynasty's province. Whilst Ba Yihan wasn't the biggest fan of reading, he did have his favorites when it came to books. Though the wandering corpses weren't the best, it sure was interesting.

Ba Yihan reached to his desk, not moving due to his laziness, so he stretched out his upper limbs to the book that sat just a little too far. But, Ba Yihan stretched a little farther, and sure enough the book tied with a tan string was in his hand.

Wandering Corpses, Slaves, and Energies.

Ba Yihan reached to open the page he was on, noted by a small slip of talisman paper yet to be used. Ba Yihan wanted to meet a wandering corpse one day. Wanted to make one. Not that it was allowed, because it wasn't. But, a disciple can dream, can't he?

Ba Yihan had drifted off into a deep slumber. Both the quiet readings of a book he was interested in, as well as the poundings of rain drops against the window, created a rhythm within his brain. One that worked like a lullaby. Lulling him to sleep for a long while.

When he woke up, it was due to the fact that there was banging against his wooden door that went to the halls of Raining Moon Hill. Ba Yihan sighed.

The rain was rather relaxing, even though he didn't favor it so much. The orchestra of sounds that came from each drop that fell to the Earth. It felt like each had a part in creating the song that sent Ba Yihan into his dreams. Which seemed like more than a compliment. At least to him it did.

That idea got Ba Yihan's mind thinking.

There was another thing Ba Yihan was both good and neglectful about. His creativity. He was born with it. A desire to make things, to think about things, and in all, to wonder why things were things. That was why he was so interested in wandering corpses. They don't fit in with any of the cultivation group's definitions. For humans or ghosts. And definitely not demons or beasts.

But the main point wasn't wandering corpses, but instead some sort of talisman or prayer that could make someone fall asleep. Maybe it can make a ghost collapse, or stop being able to inhabit a body. That could be a very powerful skill. But it has to be a certain sound, in a certain pitch, in a certain-

Another single, loud knock rang throughout Ba Yihan's new home for the next six months. Ah, he didn't open it yet, did he? Maybe I can ask you if you like my idea.

When Ba Yihan opened the door, he was surprised he didn't see a familiar face. Well, the person was definitely familiar. But it was Wo Jinfang or Yue Taishun.

Instead, it was someone Ba Yihan didn't expect to see at all.

Wo Anxuan.

Wo Anxuan was the oldest in the leading family of Liu Bai He Clan. She is the eldest daughter of Wo Zedong. But she is rarely seen. Due to multiple reasons. Including the fact that she was married to Ru Minshi, a master at Liu Bai He Clan. Or the fact that her son was also training there.

Nevertheless, Ba Yihan bowed.

"Madam Wo, what are you doing at this hour? It is late, is something wrong?" He questioned, his nose still pointed to the floor. There was silence on the other side of the door way. Might there be something worth looking at? That struck just a little bit of worry into Ba Yihan, but when Wo Anxuan spoke, the worries disappeared.

"Nothing is deemed to be unsafe at this moment. Do not fear, young cultivator. However, my brother is looking for you." She explains, one arm crossed behind her back prestigiously. Your brother is looking for me? Which one?
