Seconds to midnight

Dr. Mead gestures for me to lie down on the couch, and I comply, resting my head on the cushion. Liam remains standing, concern etched across his features.

“Is this safe, Dr. Mead? Will Liv lose consciousness?” Liam asks, clearly showing his concern.

Dr. Mead offers a reassuring smile. “Contrary to popular misconceptions about hypnosis, it is very safe. You don’t lose control over your behavior while under hypnosis. You remain aware of and remember everything that happens under hypnosis. Don’t worry, your girlfriend will still be your girlfriend when she comes out of it.” She chuckles.

I can’t help but tease Liam, hoping to ease the tension. “Not if I remember how you broke my heart in a past life.”
