EQUITY & INVESTMENT 9

James Germaine was doing very nicely thank you. In his smart office situated just off the Strand, he had just signed another happy investor to his bond-washing/gilt savings plan. His company - or rather, the company he was associated with (he could hardly set aside the largesse of his fellow directors who had financed the set-up of the plan) - Germaine Rouse, was now one of the most talked- about and bold investing strategies in the Country, if not yet beyond. Even that proviso was to be soon addressed.

From modest beginnings, the company had grown into a mammoth organisation, which now controlled investor’s funds of some £500m. Most of that money was already held and controlled by his partners in the Isle of Man, where Germaine Rouse had installed a sister company, Germaine Rouse (IOM) Ltd.
