A female's cramps

Naomi was feeling too damn depressed. Everything about boys was starting to disgust her. She couldn't sit in a place quietly without getting irritated. She had had enough and went to the principal to get a permit for leave of absence.

"What's this?" The principal asked scanning through the letter.

"Sir, I would like to be absent from school for the rest of the week." She boldly stated.

"Why is that?" He asked turning his gaze from the letter to her.

"For personal reasons." She answered and just like that he agreed. He didn't know how girls worked these days, so he let her go.

He was married with five boys and a last born who was a girl and she was currently five years old. What did he know?

Plus, he was given specific instructions from the higher ups telling him not to question her affairs.

"You can leave but for how long?" He inquired.

"Just for a week." She smartly said.

"Then you'll miss the girls contest. It's your first time experiencing it, are you sure you want to leave?"

'Gosh, I forget about that. There's no way I'm missing that.' She thought. "Sir, today's Thursday and the contest is next week, I'll make sure to be back before then."

"Very well." He opened his drawer and brought out a card. On it was written 'EXEAT CARD'. "Here's your exeat card. Be sure to return in a week and hand it over to me."

Naomi accepted it and was about to leave when she thought of something.

"Um, sir?"

"What is it?" He looked up from his desk.

"In a situation whereby a student sneaks out of school through the 'back gate' every night and returns in the morning without permission, what punishment awaits such a person?" She asked and the principal thought for a while before answering.

"Well, it's indefinite suspension. It's against the school rules. Do you know anyone who does this?" He asked.

"Not at all. It was just my thought." She shook her head. "You see, in my previous school, someone did that and was given instant expulsion. It seems you're a really lenient and kind man. Well, I'll be going." She smiled and walked out, lost in her own thoughts. 'This boy, he should know what punishment awaits him if he gets caught, why is he still doing this?'

Naomi walked to her class and saw some of the boys shirtlessly running around. They were sweaty as well. She looked round. The board was not yet wiped, the board dusters were all over the floor and papers were littered everywhere.

This irked Naomi and she gripped hard on the door frame to the extent of breaking it off.

'It seems like the world is out to get me today of all days.' She thought and calmly walked to her seat. She picked her bag and handed it over to Travis. "After school, please take it to my room."

"Naomi, you don't look so good. Are you sick?" He asked concerned.

"Just a little irritated." She said looking round. She felt like throwing up. "And a bit nausea." She covered her mouth holding onto her belly.

Travis got up looking alarmed.

"Let me take you to the sick bay." He offered.

"No need, I can manage." She declined.

"No, I really should accompany you. It's my duty, you know." He said and that was when Naomi felt like this boy was being serious about this whole boyfriend and girlfriend stuff.

Although this was the first time she was seeing him this concerned, she felt he really didn't have to care so much. After all, their relationship was fake. But to let the matter die, she decided to let him take her to the sick bay.

"Alright." She said and he supported her with his arm around her waist and his other arm holding onto hers.

This was when everyone in the class felt like something was wrong. They looked at the two of them and Naomi's face.

"Did something happen to Naomi?" Samuel asked.

"She looks sick. Oh no, maybe she got a stomachache!" Paul said.

"She looks like she is on her period." John said and they all turned to look at him.

"What does that mean, John?" Troy asked.

"I don't know but I have five elder sisters at home and I always hear them saying that they're on their period and they get supper cranky and irritated easily."

"You know nothing else?" Mark asked and John shook his head.

"What a waste?" Tom exclaimed folding his arms.

"I'll Google it out." Denice took out his phone and googled it only to see the contents. Everyone did the same and felt goosebumps run down their spine.

"Being a girl is terrible." Tom exclaimed, extremely terrified.

"Tell me about it!" Derek looked round. "No wonder she felt sick and her complexion looked pale. Look at this mess." They all looked around them and nodded in agreement.

"Everyone, let's clean up immediately and those not wearing shirts, put on your shirts. Let's make this class shiney for Naomi's sake."

"Yes, monitor!"

Travis had only taken Naomi halfway, when she felt like she couldn't walk any further.

'The menstrual cramp becomes unbearable all of a sudden.' She squatted down making Travis feel restless. "Travis, I can't walk any further."

"But you have to get to the sick bay."

"I will but just give me a sec, okay?" She tried to smile and succeeded but the smile was crooked.
