Section 2: Chapter 7: The Distinction Between Magic And Fiction

Mathias died, fighting the monster. He was a brave man, I could see it in his eyes— however, that he had been lying to me this whole time. He lied, keeping it a secret that he loved fighting. But, I loved him. More, than ever at this moment, because he was himself.

"Khonsu!" I shouted at Mathias, the nick—name I gave him when we spent our first—night together. It was worth more to me, than either of our names. I was, however, just his dead—wife.

"Alisha..." he said, soundly—in—a—soft manner. "I. Love— you."

Chomp.

The creature bit into his neck, destroying the cartilage and bleeding out the jugulars which fell—through with its teeth, leading to its exposure to the environment. Emergence

I cried. I couldn't help it. Adam, who had resurrected came to my rescue, and immediately set—out to dispatching the rest of the forces before the creature came over us.

"You've got to topple the cave," said Adam—Warlock. "Do, it."

"I can't," I shouted. "Mathias,"

"He's no longer alive, Samantha," said Warlock. He, held my hand. "He pitied you. He... never loved you," Adam said, softly.

"You piece of shit!" I shouted— throwing, a punch at Warlock. He dodged it, and, when I readied my psionic energy to blast him to smithereens, he evaded, and took control of my hand — firing — it at the boulders on the top of the cave, leading to a cascade to fall upon the soldiers getting out of the cave, sacrifices, and more — importantly, the creature itself.

"You piece of shit!" I shouted at Adam, letting a blow strike his cheek. He fell to the ground, and readied his ability. "You, sacrificed them!"

"I had to do, what had to be done," Adam—"Warlock" said, softly. Stupid name, I thought. Why, did, he, have to pick that name? "I'm going to kill you!"

The fire disappeared at Adam's fingertips. Phoenix, held my, shoulder. "— I'm still here."

I let out a blood —curdling wail, as I wept in Phoenix's arms. The aura surrounding Adam— cooled, as I felt a faint breeze returning to the environment. Mathias, had taught him how to use his powers. And, though, it was an ability he was able to make—up for his lack of versatility, with skill. That, was the distinction between me and Adam. He had no power to heal himself, however Mathias took him to a height where he'd never get hurt. I noted the injured legs and arms of Adam, and released myself from Phoenix's grasp.
