Wait a minute, though. I had candles at home that I had no idea where they came from. It was like one day they'd just appeared, and I'd been too distracted by one thing or another to pay much attention. They'd probably been a gift. Or they'd come through the same void that ate socks in the dryer. Candles in exchange for socks. Not a bad deal.

Okay, I really needed to stop eating so much sugar. It was rotting my brain.

Maybe if I got a good look at the candle, I'd be able to tell why he'd been screaming about it two days before his murder. Maybe I could also tell whether it had leaped through the dryer void or not. At the very least, it could have a shop name on the bottom sticker like the two I'd just bought.

After another Google search, I brought up his address, which was only a couple blocks away. It wasn't as though I had much else to do.
