Chapter 37

"Vic," Boxy whispered, leaning forward, "it might help to know that the detective noticed the broom in the corner as soon as he came in here."

I frowned, trying to turn my head toward the corner, but Studmuffin was hugging my face too tightly. "Which broom?"

"Exactly," Boxy said with a nod.

"No, I mean which..." And then I spotted it behind several huge vases filled with flowers. It was leaning against the corner by the bathroom. "Oh. Witch broom."

A bundle of sticks poked from the top of a long, sturdy-looking, though delightfully crooked, handle. Blue and yellow ribbons that were the exact same colors as Sunray's waiting area secured the sticks to the handle in pretty bows. My vision was still fuzzy, but it looked like little cars decorated the ribbons. It was the most thoughtful gift anyone had ever made for me, and it was absolutely perfect.
