Now was a great time as any to see if hearse power was the same as Bernadette's horse power. I floored it.
Yeah, no contest. I pulled away from the three hearses, no problem.
Tires squealing, I soon pulled into Gas, Guzzles, & Go's parking lot. Just like last time, Travis's Mustang was parked by the air pump. Travis himself was walking out the door, two huge bags of Cheetos in each hand. His jaw practically fell to the concrete when he saw me flying toward him.
I screeched to a stop and lowered my window. "Get in!"
"Wh - ?" His gaze flicked toward the hearses farther down the street. That marked the beginning and end of his questions. He threw himself inside Bernadette, and I floored it once again.
"You sure do know how to make an entrance," he said.
"I'm usually not quite so dramatic, believe me." I steered Bernadette out of the parking lot just as the first hearse was pulling in. So they could go faster than turtle speed after all. Just not as fast as Bernadette.
